After a bit of a hiatus, I'm getting back into perfume testing again.

BPAL Shattered

Description: A blend of white champagne notes, grapefruit, lotus, slivered mint and crystalline aquatic blooms.

This was group tested and got a better reception than some of the other BPAL we tested together. I initially smelled mint and aquatic notes; however, a bathroom cleaner, Pine Sol sort of scent began to dominate for everyone, and it ended up not being a keeper.

Cleopatra by Tocca

Description: Top Notes: Bitter Grapefruit, Lush Greens, Cassis Bud; Middle Notes: White Jasmine, Peach Nectar, Tuberose; Bottom Notes: Warm Patchouli, Golden Amber, Rich Vanilla Musk

We were evenly divided on this one. I liked it; no hint of jasmine for me. It smelled green and sweet like berries, tuberose and peach with an edge of patchouli; it dried down to musk, vanilla, and amber. I gave this to L since Josh was in the "smells like an old lady" camp.

Ralph by Ralph Lauren

Description: Top notes are japanese osmanthus, apple leaf and italian mandarin; middle notes are magnolia, boronia and yellow freesia; base notes are musk and white iris.

Everybody likes this one. It's just a classic, clean, unisex, inoffensive perfume that anyone of any age could wear for any occasion in any season. I think it smells lemony, fresh, aquatic, white musk, appley. I would very much not mind smelling this on other people, but it's not for me.

Sex in the City Eau de Parfum Fusion

I cannot find a description of this perfume online; it must have been a short-lived run indeed. LOL I ended up giving this to L. I liked it alright (fresh, water, rose) but again, not for me.

Estee Lauder Pleasures Aqua

Description: Top notes are honeysuckle, freesia, green leaves and watery notes; middle notes are jasmine, peony and lilac; base notes are musk, woodsy notes and ambroxan. The fragrance features lilac, jasmine and peony.

L bought this for herself and generously let me test it. I used to wear Pleasures, and this is very much like its parent perfume. It smells aquatic, green, and spicy, and the spiciness persists. This is a lovely perfume, and it smells great on L.

Chanel No. 19

Description: Top notes: green notes and bergamot. Heart: rose and iris. Base: vetiver, oakmoss and leather.

This doesn't have a lot of sillage or staying power. Much like Eau de Cologne, it fades too quickly. I get a green scent first, followed by jasmine which fades instantly. I can sense that this jasmine could edge into something offensive, but it doesn't. I usually don't even smell the jasmine in a Chanel, and I worried that being able to detect it here would make this one unwearable, but fortunately it doesn't. Then I get a whiff of leather and iris, and then it slowly fades into that beautiful Chanel powderiness.

Wow, pleasures aqua sounds neat! SADLY, most white notes, green notes and watery notes don't work on me, at least in BPAL form. But I like hearing about what they smell like on other people.

Yay, post! Pleasures Aqua sounds lovely, though I have a bit of a jasmine phobia (based only on BPAL jasmine, which could be a different beast). And the Chanel No. 19 too - green notes, yay! I haven't tried many aquatics, but the few I have tried have gone dryer sheets on me (I hate dryer sheets).

I've been doing a bit more wearing and testing lately, and even branching out from BPAL into some conventional pefumes. Have you tried any of the Nest perfumes? I sampled Nest Indigo at Sephora the other day and found I really liked it. Figgy woody tea-ey loveliness. But pricey. I'm used to BPAL prices; fancy store perfume can be $$$$.

And back to BPAL, I have a tiny order of Luper decants out for delivery at this very moment, should be here within the hour. *bounce*

Throwing in a link to Indigo. The bottle art for the whole series is so gorgeous.
