Warning: Discussion of the death of actual people (not my family)

We're driving home from the Coast tonight, and I'm riding with Daddy in his truck so he doesn't have to ride by himself (and also because I know he likes classic rock and will let me listen to the radio) and Josh and Ems are riding with Mom. They're about five minutes ahead of us because Dad took Josh and my brother out into the Gulf to go fishing this morning (at like 4:30) and he wanted to check that he'd done everything up on the boat one last time before we left MeeMaw's.

Dad and I are rocking out, expressing our mutual enjoyment of Kansas, when we see that there's a wreck up ahead of us where the road we're on intersects with 49. There's a cop directing traffic, and when we can go through, we see that Mom's pulled over on the side of the road too.
