1. I've started doing some planning/writing for my Autoimmune Memoir, and I realized that I have the hardest time writing in past tense now because I write all my fanfic in present tense. Would it be weird to read a memoir in present tense? Should I force the past tense until it becomes comfortable again? What do y'all think?

2. There's a new comm, [community profile] bujo, that some of you may be interested in. It's about bullet journaling which I have pretty much decided is not for me, but I enjoy reading about all things journal/planner related.

I wish there was an active comm for all different kinds of journaling, planners, to-do list lovers, etc. I feel like the answer is to make a new one (but lordy do I not want to mod anything right now; of course, it could just be largely unmoderated) or to try to revive [community profile] paperjournals. What do y'all think? Which seems more likely to succeed? Any interest in an all-encompassing journal/planner comm?

3. We are all so sick. Waaaaaah. Josh was out the first two days of this week. He frequently and randomly has bouts of vomiting/diarrhea that we can't explain. For the longest time, I really didn't think much of it and assumed they were anxiety related. Now, though, I worry that some underlying condition is causing these episodes, so he's started the process of figuring out a diagnosis. Ultrasound and X-Rays tomorrow!

Emma's cold is lingering.

Fiona has . . . something. Doc thinks it's bacterial but not quite sure. So she's on antibiotics. If she doesn't improve by the morning, I'll take her back.

This is my greatest shame as a mom, but situations where the kids have to miss school always bring out the selfish beast in me. I had so much work I wanted to do today, alack.

Of course, I am sick now, too. I almost never get colds, so when I do, they feel pretty debilitating. Bleck. Which means I can stop whining about missing work today because I feel so shitty, I probably wouldn't have gotten as much done as I want anyway. LOL

I feel like forcing it would interrupt the flow of a memoir, which is antithetical to the point of a memoir. So you should go with whatever tense you want.

(Relatedly, were I to start a new urban fantasy romance, because what's life without ten different projects at once, I'm thinking of going first person present tense. What do you think?)

You're writing it, dude. You can do whatever you want. You are the Boss of It.

I hope my commentary last night was useful? I feel like sometimes I get caught up in the one-liners (too much time in BtVS and Stargate fandom) and end up with less useful commentary that way. Just let me know how to adjust for the future.

I like your idea of experimenting with one or two scenes to see which will feel better. You can always go back and switch it, even after that, if you still don't like it.

I'm going for action and tension! I'll send you an email later. I'm hammering out something ridiculously short-term just to see how it goes.

Once I get you to give the first story a final run-through and then I give it a better title, I plan on learning how to make my own covers and then I embark on self-publishing. Hopefully people like it enough to pay for it.

I agree; go with whatever lets you write easily - if it turns out not to work for some reason once you're into it, you can always switch and worry about editing later.

Thanks for the tip about [community profile] bujo; I've not got into bullet journalling because I keep a to-do list as a text file that seems to function in much the same way, but I love everything to do with journalling and I wouldn't rule out adding a bullet-journalled section to my handwritten diary each day, to divide the recording/notes from stuff I just want to muse about. I went and commented on the latest post at [community profile] paperjournals too; apparently someone else has tried to gee it up again in the past few weeks!

I find myself reacting the same way if R's unexpectedly off work - it doesn't mean we don't care, it just means there's not enough hours in the day. <3

I hope you're all feeling a lot better soon and that Josh gets some answers on how to manage his GI issues!

I was puzzled by this whole bullet journal thing, having not really heard of it until lately, and googled it and found some fascinating how-to's. Some great ideas there, only I would definitely go the stripped down route because I am so not the calligraphy or scrapbooking kind of person, but it was so fascinating to see all the lovely DIY ideas. And interesting to see how many of the things I'd kind of adapted to my own way of doing organization already.

Great to hear from you.

Yikes, hope they can figure out what's causing his health issues and that it's not something major.

Hope you feel better soon!
