Yes! And just worrying about reading in general--from eyestrain to the potential morality of what was being read to this weird fear that learning too much was dangerous to mental health (particularly for women, but you even see this directed at male characters as well) or that exercising the imagination too much was potentially damaging. Just nuts all around. LOL
