Iron Fist + Dragon Prince

1. Y'all. I am not digging the second season of Iron Fist as much as I want to and definitely not as much as the first. *pouts* I'm hoping it will start picking up for me.

Episodes 1-2

Okay, I do like every single thing about Danny and Colleen. They are solid and sweet, and they just are so comfortable with each other, and I dig that so hard.

I'm a little concerned about Danny's secret training room and the way he seems addicted to using the Fist.

I like that Colleen is only using violence as a last resort; I like that she's found other ways to give back to the community. I love that she just goes into the lair of those kids who were trying to hurt her like it's nothing. I love that she gets Yang's wife to successfully stop her husband. I hate that she's not running a dojo anymore, though. I think she misses it, and I think it was good for her. I also think she's guilty about Misty, and that's not a good motivation for her to give up teaching martial arts.

I'm curious about where the toilet set that used to belong to her mother leads (this reminds me of when I was teaching Faulkner's "A Rose for Emily" and a student asked me: why did she just have a toilet in the middle of her bedroom? *headdesk*).

WTF is that picture of a woman and her fox friend in Colleen's bathroom? That is a wild painting!

I love that Ward is in recovery. I love that when he's an ass he apologizes to his assistant and he genuinely smiles at her and interacts with her in a good way. He's come so far!!

I despise everything about the turn Joy's character has taken. She was my favorite in season one. She was good and moral and kind, and I hate what she's become. It would be different if her turn into villainy made sense to me, but it doesn't. I don't buy it. I know she was lied to and that she went through traumatic experiences, but the person she should be angry with is her dad, not Ward. Ward shouldered the entire burden of dealing with her dad's shit, a burden that ruined his life and led to his addiction, to protect his sister. He was told she'd be killed if she knew. Why would he tell her? And her anger at Danny is also inexplicable. She's turned into a mustache twirling villain, and I hates it. Because I can see what Davos gets out of it; his revenge is a simple and straight forward one. I can't see what Joy truly gains by hurting Danny and/or Ward.

I do not like Mary's character. I am not down for a split personalities plot line, but that's clearly where it's headed.

I do not like Ward's sponsor sleeping with him. That's a big no-no.

I don't like Davos's role so far, but I understand it. He didn't actually yield to Danny. Danny didn't truly win, and I get why he's angry. He's also legitimately angry at Danny for leaving his post and not being there to protect Kun Lun. Clearly there's a way to take the Fist from Danny or he wouldn't have asked about it, which is clearly what he's going to use that pot for. I do not like how unhinged he is, though. It's over the top, and he's murdering people, and whatever legitimacy exists in his complaints are destroyed by that.

I despise everything about him sleeping with a woman he clearly doesn't want to sleep with. That scene was very uncomfortable for me to watch. Did not like.

Davos says that in Kun Lun, oath breakers are murdered and there's a ravine full of their corpses. Man, Kun Lun just sounds more and more awful with every new description. LOL

2. But I absolutely adored the end of what we have so far of Dragon Prince. If the show had ended there, I'd be satisfied, but I'm really glad we have more seasons to look forward to.

Completely digging Reyla/Callum.

Completely love Soren's character arc. When he tells Callum that he used to tease him because he was jealous that Callum's dad actually loved him, *my heart*. He sees his dad for what he is. He sees that his dad is evil and that even when he says he's doing things for the good of all, he's really not. I'd like to think Viren really was good to start with before the magic corrupted him completely, but IDK now. Maybe he was always corrupt and the magic just took it even farther. But Soren is a good guy; he's willing to kill his father if necessary. *smishes him* Oh, he is the perfect woobie.

Claudia shocks me. I genuinely thought she'd see how horrible her dad is and come around. But she's doubled down. She brings her dad back to life. I don't know if she can be redeemed now.

Okay, so dangling threads and predictions for the future:

1. A time of peace where Zadia and humans mix and everything is all harmony until Viren, Claudia, and bug dude show up as the villains.

2. Ezran is king again.

3. Did the monster soldiers turn back human again or are they still monsters? Lots of people died in four kingdoms. Is Katolis going to be angry at Ezran for those lost lives or Viren?

4. The souls trapped in the coins will be released.

5. General Amaya's got a girlfriend! Yay!!!
