I reread Mrs Dalloway with a year and a half ago, so I was really noticing the echoes of the 1918 flu pandemic. I hadn't realized, before our pandemic, that Clarissa and Septimus are both survivors of world-wide catastrophes. I thought of her illness as a personal, individual thing.
