We have not always been good managers of our money. And by not always I mean we were shit at it until I'd say about 6 years ago. LOL I think some of that on my part was a subconscious reaction to my parents' extreme thrift when I was growing up (they have since unclenched like a lot), but some of it was just us being dumbasses.
And I can't blame my parents for their thrift though it drove me nuts as a kid/teen/young adult. When you grow up poor raised by parents who lived through the Depression (and my maternal grandma was literally starving at times as a girl), that makes a mark.
