I wasn't familiar with the Desiderata until you mentioned it; I'm assuming you mean the poem. What are the origins of it?

These are all such helpful suggestions. Back when I was trying to be Catholic, I did find something meaningful and enjoyable in the ritual aspects of it without really believing in it. But ultimately I have such a knee-jerk reaction against Christianity because of the way I was raised that I don't think I could truly be comfortable in even the most progressive, liberal, race/gender/sexuality affirming Christian church ever. That well is poisoned for me.

I am going to check out that book and dialogue you linked to; that sounds so so interesting.
