(I hope Sam gets the shield, not Bucky. Poor Bucky just seems Done with the whole business and like he wants a nap.)

Huh you’re right - poor guy prob just wants to go back to that quiet hut in Wakanda.

I know in the comics he goes on and he's Cap and Winter Soldier and Man on the Wall and never really gets out of the game, because for one thing that wouldn't sell comics, but poor MCU Bucky just seems so DONE with the fighting and killing people, and like he feels so guilty. Maybe they could help him with Shuri's tech or Tony's BARF machine (hah), or Steve will make a dying request or something (I've seen a lot of speculation the shaking hand doing up the shield in the promo is Bucky's), but I would rather it be Sam. That would also help take away the taste of the AWFUL Sam Cap solo book by Nick Spencer I actually spent money on, before it turned into Secret Empire bullshit.

Now I see Steve dying before Tony because of the Peter mentor thing. I would like it if there was some big Steve and James/Bucky reunion thing and Bucky takes up the mantle as redemption for what Hydra made him do and in Steve’s memory. But I think it’s under the name Nomad because CA is such a americentric name (??).
Sam isn’t enhanced which is the one reason I don’t see him becoming Captain America.

Hunh, it would be interesting if Bucky became Nomad, because I don't think that happened in the comics....no wait it did, didn't it, with Jack Monroe. Who had been a Bucky. (LOL, COMICS.) I mean, if MCU Tony went all freaky over STEVE "not deserving" Howard's shield, he probably really wouldn't want it to go to the man who killed Howard. Altho maybe he'd become okay with it and that would be part of the story arc, idk. When Steve's Nomad in the comics, he has a shield Tony gives him and then takes back, and then a shield from the Black Panther. Maybe Bucky will get a shield along with his arm from Wakanda? Or the arm could have a shield in it, like how Cap's new outfit had the retractable vibranium gauntlet things.

I don't think Sam is enhanced in the books when he first becomes Cap, although I don't remember -- also, because COMICS!, Sam was a mutant and then not a mutant. They've also had people other than Cap tossing the shield around in the movies, though for a while in the comics I think the only person who could catch it after Steve's death was Clint Barton. (Now that would be the decision to set fandom on fire. MCU Captain Ronin!)

Ah I never did the comics thing so all I have to go with is cinematic MCU which really is a hot mess. And I remember reading a thing where they talked that Rogers went from CA to going by Nomad so... shrug.

I can see Tony sort of forgiving Bucky if given time — he would know the difference between a weapon and he hand that holds it. Or he did back in IM. IMO Steve not deserving the shield was, for Tony, more about the years of lying and taking Tony’s money and tech to secretly hunt for his buddy and ....

Huh Clint as CA is very interesting idea.

I am a total comics n00b, and comics continuity is an even hotter mess than MCU's, if only because the comics have been going on longer.

Now that's a lot more interesting than 'HE KILLED MY MOM,' at least I think so.

I took the ‘He killed my mom’, while flunky, as the emotional gut punch reaction of *watching* it and realizing all the other stuff. No person could be expected to be articulate with the reasons after that and a super soldier duo beat down. Full disclosure I actually haven’t watched CA:CW since the theater because of the feels and cognitive dissonance brought on by my emotional side fighting the rational side’s WTF is going on ?

After Capt Marvel comes out I’m going to do a massive rewatch from Iron Man forward so...
