Gotham series finale plus some recs
I just realized I never posted about the series finale of Gotham. I will say outside the cut that I was very satisfied with it, and I think those of you who haven't been watching lately will be pleased with the way it ends if you decide to catch up on the show.
The episode starts with a 10 year time skip. They use a different actor for Selina, and the casting is really awesome there; the new actor looks a hell of a lot like teenage Selina. They don't show Bruce except in the suit, so aging doesn't matter for him.
BARBARA LIVES! Barbara lives and has smoking hot long red hair, and she and Lee and Jim are coparenting the hell out of their kiddo and getting along, and it is awesome as shit. She's the Queen of Gotham, a real estate mogul. I cannot believe the show does her right, but I am so happy about it.
Penguin and Nygma have spent the last ten years in jail and are released. Penguin has been costumed to more closely resemble the cartoony version of himself from the comics. Their glorious bromance continues (probably my most favorite part of this whole ridiculous, wonderful show).
All the women band together to stop the plot to blow up Bruce's gala. I love the casual way Barbara, Lee and Selina just take care of business.
Jeremiah shows up as the Joker, and he is properly frightening and super obsessed with Bruce as is fitting.
The show ends with the spotlight BatCall and Bruce's pledge never to leave Gotham again.
It was a satisfying ending.
