Need definitions

I was reading this post about kinks that was linked to metafandom a while back and came across two sexual activities I'd never heard of.

Anybody know what "dogtags" and "tails" are?

Was it kink as in sexual act, or kink like someone has a bit of a fetish for something? Because if it's the latter, maybe they meant 'dogtags' as in "I like slash fic where there's a bit of dogtag (military) fetishisation in the story"?. And the same with tails - writing people suddenly developing tails (I think I read an SGA story like that once)?

I figured dogtags had something to do with the military, I just wasn't sure what.

Oh, yeah, THAT poll. I read it but didn't answer because, y'know, I'm just a tourist. In that context, "tails" probably refers to various kinds of whips, but about dogtags, I got nothin'.

OK, now I'm confused. I read the link, and I ask: how can I participate in sex that involves a tail fetish? If it was in the 'reading/writing' lists only, it makes sense to me (but isn't a kink I share), but it doesn't seem to make sense in terms of participation (unless it's an animatronic tail?? *g*) so I think I must be missing something about what exactly a tail kink entails (omg, bad pun).

Well, while we're here talking about smut vocabulary: is there a specific term for stimulating the penis by thrusting it between buttocks or vaginal lips, sort of perpendicular to where it would have to be for penetration? I guess it's a kind of frottage, but you know, "I need a little sugar in my bowl/I need a little hot dog in my roll."

That was my first impulse until I noticed that s/he hadn't responded to any of the comments made to the post. I'll drop a query there, but I don't think it'll be answered. :)

Fair enough. (Perhaps the pollster is waiting until s/he makes the later "later, my interpretations" post?) I still would have asked there first :)

And yeah, "tails" I'm thinking equals "cat (o' nine) tails" -- i.e., whips -- as Exec suggested.

I live quite near New York City, so several times a year persons who are so inclined can take Single Tail workshops at various places. As far as I'm concerned, any form of perversity that actually requires *instructions* is more than I'm willing to engage in, but then I never took racquetball lessons either.
