Con Report the First: Concerning People I Met

[livejournal.com profile] suki_blue and [livejournal.com profile] kitty_poker1 were the first people we met. I was leaving the restroom, and Kitty recognized me as they were coming in. They are both absolutely lovely people, with darling accents. I had never spoken with their friends Vic and Ali on lj before, but they were also lots of fun. [livejournal.com profile] trekgirl55 and I ended up spending most of our time with [livejournal.com profile] hermionesviolin (who is as awesome and amazing as lj correspondence led me to believe) and [livejournal.com profile] fractal_bat and [livejournal.com profile] fiareynne. I had never met Ms. Brat (as I inadvertently misnamed her) and Fia before online, but they were loads of fun. [livejournal.com profile] lwbush, a Georgia native, was also incredibly sweet and cut a rug out on the dance floor at the cocktail party. I also met [livejournal.com profile] margarks, who has a beautiful smile and the sweetest giggle. I had the immense pleasure of meeting [livejournal.com profile] mosca, a writer I have long fangirled who turned out to be as gorgeous and wonderful in person as I’d imagined. [livejournal.com profile] ponders_life has the greatest hair! I’ll never forget her rocking out to the Cure on the dance floor. [livejournal.com profile] shadowscast is a doll; she looks so young. [livejournal.com profile] soundingsea is made of awesome—she made the tastiest caramels ever and gave everybody stickers to decorate their badges with. I did an interview with [livejournal.com profile] yourlibrarian for her dissertation work, and in a bit of its-a-small-world, she used to live in Hattiesburg and worked at the same uni library where I worked and ended up knowing my mother. [livejournal.com profile] dancetomato and [livejournal.com profile] essene were both sweet as hell and their love is so pure…well, you know. :) [livejournal.com profile] itsabigrock—I dunno if I can articulate here how fun and funny and uplifting and pervy this woman is here, so I’ll forgo. [livejournal.com profile] crazydiamondsue is precious, bless her heart. She’s funny as hell and I didn’t get to spend nearly enough time with her. Or [livejournal.com profile] stoney321 who is even more hilarious in person than in her journal (as well as being really articulate and a great panel moderator). After the showing of my movie (which was a huge success!), people I didn’t know randomly complimented me on it, as did [livejournal.com profile] hurry_sundown on the elevator. [livejournal.com profile] femmenerd is a stunning redhead and a brilliant writer who made my heart sing when she said, “There’s that girl with the pretty accent.” I also met [livejournal.com profile] nitkitangel, who is beautiful and incredibly friendly and who channels Faith so well it’s almost scary. I also very much enjoyed the kisses kiss I got on the cheek from [livejournal.com profile] yin_again, another flister I wish I’d been able to spend more time with. I’ll also never forget [livejournal.com profile] luvxander dressed in drag and dancing his heart out at the cocktail party. Finally, [livejournal.com profile] brandil is made of utter hotness and sexiness and twiny, writhy goodness when she dances.

I also got to meet [livejournal.com profile] redteufel, who is one of trekgirl’s old friends who now live in Atlanta. He took us out for a night in the gay part of town. We had dinner at Gilbert's and then went for drinks at Woof's. I had an absolutely brilliant time; Andy is dropdead gorgeous and funny and a total nerd like the rest of us. It was a really nice way to end the trip. Plus, gay bars are made of yay. I miss going to the gay bar in Hattiesburg; Oxford has no gay bars.

Overheard:

[livejournal.com profile] spuffyduds at the Badfic panel: “In the future, where we live, people have forgotten how to masturbate with their fingers.”

[livejournal.com profile] crazydiamondsue outside the elevator: “I had a dream where I could breed my own master race of people, so I took [livejournal.com profile] lunabee34 and [livejournal.com profile] brandil and made a race of hot, dancey women.”

Forthcoming:

1. Phone post in which I read my Joy Behar watches Star Jones Reynolds and Barbara Walters get it on drabble
2. Vampire physiology
3. Breaking writer’s block
4. Magic and science in the Jossverse
