oh, hbo, your preciousness bores me

What does it mean that I'm opting to watch Couples (Jon Favreau, Vince Vaughn, Kristin Bell) instead of the last half of Boardwalk Empire?

BEST LINE EVER:

Favreau: It's tweeting, dude.

Vaughn: I call it twatting.

I was completely unimpressed w/ the first episode of Boardwalk Empire.

Though on the other hand Michael Pitt is awfully pretty.

That was pretty much exactly my reaction.

Michael Pitt *is* pretty. I think Steve Buscemi is the epitome of awesome. I am so stoked that Omar Michael Williams is lighting up the screen again. The era is so compelling and provocative and THIS SHOW SHOULD HAVE ME ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT!

Totally cold, though.

Maybe it's the whole gangster, mob boss, crime drama thing. I find that shit utterly boring. As hell. I did love Law and Order (All franchises!), but that was totally the doink!doink and Mariska Hargitay and less the subject matter.

How do you feel about Bored to Death? We just bought HBO like two days ago and so I just discovered it. I think it's funny as hell and kind of brilliant. It's like Rushmore for thirty minutes each week. LOL

I even like THE GENRE and was bored by Boardwalk Empire. Like, what is it bringing to this that is new?

I haven't seen Bored to Death. I am actually supposed to cancel HBO b/c my free trial ran out and now they are charging me. There's not anything worth my hanging onto it for -- maybe I'll re-up for 'Game of Thrones' next year.

What is this Game of Thrones of which you speak?

[identity profile] likeadeuce.livejournal.com 2010-09-27 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
It's some kind of epic fantasy series? It's based on a bunch of books that I haven't read myself but just the general "epic fantasy HBO series" thing makes my ears perk up.

Oh. Oh. OH!!!!!!!

That's the George R. R. Martin! My husband is having wet dreams over this series, and I'm kinda bothered twixt the nethers myself. LOL I had forgotten they were making Songs of Fire and Ice into a series. I think it'll be awesome.

I haven't read it yet, but I should. Maybe now that I'm getting my brain back I'll be able to LOL.

Also? Lena Headey and Sean Bean OMG

Full disclosure, I only read the first book, but it was awesome awesome awesome. And I did watch Josh jizz in his pants over the course of the next three books. LOL

Y'know, I think one reason I prefer HLOTS to The Wire is the HBOsity of the latter.

*nods*

I know what you mean. I loved The Wire. Every heartbreaking second of it. But it was never not cognizant that it was critically acclaimed HBO series The Wire.
