Help with posters + Murderbot

1. Our department has moved to new offices; we were scattered in disparate buildings all over campus, and now we're consolidated into one floor of one building (which has its pros and cons; it makes absolute sense for us all to be in one place; however, my office has been my haven; I do almost all my work at my office, and I do a lot of personal work there as well; my former office was really quiet and in a largely empty building; I'm a little concerned that this new set-up is going to be loud and distracting, but as [personal profile] executrix reminded me, that's why God made noise cancelling headphones LOL). My new office has white walls and a lot more wall space than my previous office. I need to find some posters/artwork to put up on two walls; I'm looking for three to four items. I don't want the college dorm Starry Night genre or the Hang in There inspiration genre either. Anybody have any recs? It doesn't have to be a poster; I'm willing to splurge on actual artwork if I like it. HALP ME!

All Systems Red (The Murderbot Diaries, #1)All Systems Red by Martha Wells

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Murderbot is awesome. How could I not love a story about a robot who just wants to be left alone to watch TV in peace?

I love Murderbot's humans, especially Dr. Mensah. I love the thorny ethics of its sentience. I love all the issues of embodiment the books explores.

The only thing I do not adore is how short it is. :( I need more than just a novella about these characters. Also, my copy has two typos which is super jarring for something so short.

Eagerly looking forward to the next books.

3. Have some Murderbot Yuletide recs:

Humanumission and The Ship Who Vidded, both by [archiveofourown.org profile] actonbell. And there's still more Yuletide for Murderbot to read!

Oh, posters! YMMV obviously, but I'm absurdly fond of the ALA "Read" posters in all their dorky glory. If you're into Edward Gorey at all, The Gashlycrumb Tinies make for amusing wall art. If your walls can stand it, you might consider something more decorative like this Charley Harper flock of birds wall decor or the multitude of wall stickers available on Amazon (there are generic ones and lots of fandom-y ones, depending on your comfort level in a public-ish space)?

Thank you for the Murderbot link. I keep meaning to mention that one to Mr G. Though given your enthusiastic recommendation, we might share it. :)

My daughter has been asking for various Studio Ghibli related posters. They're very pretty and sold via secondary vendors on Amazon. I particularly like the one for Kiki's Delivery Service that she's put on her list. A lot of TV shows and movies and Broadway plays have posters, too, if there's anything in that direction you'd like.

If your institution's art department has shows of student work with works for sale, it would be tactful to buy something affordable and not absolutely wretched if such can be found. Or if there's an annual local art show ditto.

YES THERE ARE LIKE 14 STORIES IT IS SO EXCELLENT!

Also, I do find it refreshing to have an agender, asexual protagonist. I mean, it's because Murderbot is an android, but it was still oddly refreshing to read, even in 2017. Perhaps it's because I'm such a shipper in general, but of pairings no one cares for (especially not the media creators): At least this time I know no bullshit couple with zero chemistry or connection will be sprung on me.

I don't know if it's the sort of thing you're looking for or not, but NASA has free space tourism and exoplanet posters.

//BLUSH OMG, thank you!

I know, I just wanted MORE. There are THREE novellas coming out next year apparently? Or at least two. No, that's this year, that's right. ahahaha.

Ooh, the NASA poster idea sounds neat, or student artwork.

Yeah, it's part of Tor's novella series. IDK why they wouldn't just release a full-scale book....? Also, I hope they don't charge $10 for each one. sigh.

PROBABLY

I mean, I really want to support authors! I want to support THIS author! but OMG that is also a terrible sales plan, if they're going to charge that much per book.
