1. I got my first birthday present of the year, a Margaret Atwood novel from amejisuto! I am one step closer to a complete collection. Thank you, sweetie!

2. Yesterday we saw the hawk on the ground with a snake in its mouth. It was very cool to see it lift off with that snake dangling down.

I find Atwood teaches well -- I used to do Handmaid's Tale in a law & literature class, I do Oryx & Crake in my AI & Genetic Engineering class. Trying to decide whether to make three-of-a-kind and do The Year of the Flood in Cli Fi or give some different authors more of a chance. ;-)

That makes for a cool image! Too bad you couldn't get a picture. I'm still waiting to get a good photo of the heron that hangs out down by our pond. Last year I had sightings, this year just 'hearings' as Ti chases it away. *sigh*

It's a red shoulder hawk. And there are red tail hawks in the area as well.
