I am not going to take a nap today. Probably
1. Guess who exceeded expectations in all evaluative categories for last year? Guess who was called a star by her chair? Guess whose chair put in writing that she should apply for full professor? *beams*
2. Josh took Sammy to the vet yesterday. The vet confirmed that nothing else is going on (no ringworm or fleas or anything else terrible). We have him some new stainless steel dishes, he got a shot of steroids, and he's now on some sensitive skin food. And a wee bit of a diet as he has apparently reached his optimum weight. LOL He's already scratching and licking less, and the vet said she thinks he should be fine in about a week.
3. I have not seen Encanto and don't really know anything about it, but I enjoy making up stuff about shows I haven't seen so I have decided that the reason they don't talk about Bruno is because he died tragically but also ridiculously and no one can bear to talk about him because the Final Destination Rube Goldberg device nature of his death is too painful (and blackly funny) for conversation?
4. Some of you may be interested in reading "Beyond Critical Thinking" by Michael Roth (January 3, 2010 Chronicle of Higher Ed) which I think you can read online for free which articulates many of the same concerns as the Felski book but in a much shorter and more accessible format.

I'm glad Sammy's already doing better; I'd meant to rec steel bowls, then flaked. /o\

I am so relieved about Sammy; I knew he was going to be fine, but it's nice to have that confirmed. LOL

3. I haven't seen Encanto either. Yet, I am beginning to wonder about the viability of reimagining Due South as a musical.

I firmly believe that everything could benefit from a musical adaptation. LOL

That is a gigglesome headcanon and, while not true, thematically fits in some ways.

Poor Sammy. We had to switch to metal and glass dishes for our kitties too because they were allergic. It's always something.
We don't talk about Bruno because he was the best part of the movie. Or maybe the second best, after the responsible sister who is slowly going crazy.
I was a non-critical-theory scholar paired with an "embrace all theory" advisor. It was a match made in hell.

I guess we were just lucky with our other cats not having any skin issues because I didn't realize how common it is.
OMG that sounds like a misery. I am so sorry. The matching process is so screwy in the humanities; you almost just end up with whoever you end up with sometimes. *hugs*

The shot seems to have really helped; he's doing a lot better already. :)

I have seen Encanto which apart from the songs and dancing I have very, very mixed feelings about. That said, I think I like your explanation of the Bruno song much better than the canon one.

I enjoy making up my silly alternate explanations of canon. LOL

I'm glad Sammy is improving!

I'm so glad too. For someone who was reluctant to get another cat, I have gone all in on Sammy. LOL

"HUGS"
Glad kitty is doing better. I have not seen Encanto yet either and every time I hear that name I keep thinking about the character in Shadowhunters, Simon the vampire saying that to people when he first became a vampire. It was supposed to make you do whatever he said which as a new vampire was a total fail. LOL

I'm so glad Sammy is doing better, too.
Oh, that sounds so funny. LOL

I missed the post about Sammy being ill, but I'm glad he's doing better now. (I switched to metal dishes after our dogs chewed the heck out of the hard plastic ones making them dangerous to touch, and I like them much better because they're easier to clean. Metal dishes all around now! *g*)

Thank you! I feel very proud of myself.
I made my mommy read my eval and praise me. It was quite rewarding. LOL

I am so happy, too.
That little stinker has wormed his way all the way into my heart!

I think Bruno's whole deal would make you cry. He's the angst king
no subject
Oh, you know me so well. I am such a sucker for the angst. LOL
