What the Winesellers Buy by executrix; Inara/Saffron; Adult
This story is, as is always true with Exec, an indomitably fun and thinky read. I love that she has these women whose identities are constantly in flux revel in dressup and playacting with each other. A very nicely done commentary on Companions and on Inara's character.

This is Firefly by way of Emma and it is wonderful! Exec has a real gift for capturing the diction and the ambience of an author while completely transmuting the source text to accomodate the needs of whichever fannish love she's incarnating. I abolutely adore Inara's father as Mr. Woodhouse. His bits are always the ones that make me laugh aloud when reading the Austen.

The Thousand Fingered Wait by sanyin; Sam/Dean; Adult
This fic shows us the way Sam slowly unravels on that Tuesday that never ends. It is sexy and disturbing and insightful and, frankly, I'm hugely jealous. If I was going to tell a story about that day, this is the one I'd wish I had told.

This makes the second time this has happened so I thought I'd make a post warning you guys.

The first time, I didn't understand what was going on; I just thought AOL was having a weird hiccup. But tonight, my interlocuter figured out what was going on and clued me in.

Apparently there is a bot that matches two people who have recently posted on lj and opens an IM window between them. The first time this happened the IM was from DireDoomSalmon and tonight it was from TyrannicalSalmon. The bot also sends some pretty nasty messages as the person to whom I was actually IM-ing believed I had just IM-ed hir a racial epithet.

So, do not open any IMs from any incarnation of Salmon.

Gah, why is the internet so freaking weird sometimes? What is the purpose of such a bot?
