in continuing news about my brain

1. Insurance approved three of the four MRIs (brain, cervical spine, thoracic spine) and rejected the lumbar spine. I'm having the three on Saturday night at 6:45. I meet with the neurologist on Tuesday and at that point he will decide if the lumbar one is necessary. He should have the results of all the tests at that point, so on Tuesday, I should know *something*.

2. Earlier this week, I had a cognitive test (not connected to the cap o'goo, thankfully). I think I did really well on it except for the part where I was asked to memorize a screen of pictures and then identify them later. Also, the part with ever-increasingly quick math problems. *shudders*

3. So, when my MRIs were canceled last week, I made a retail therapy purchase from JetPens that arrived a couple days ago. Forthcoming review post. *pets all my new pens*

4. This journal has been pretty much unremittingly about my brain lately LOL, so let's inject something fannish. Tell me about your latest fannish interest, accomplishment, WTF moment, whatever. *chin hands*

Sounds like your doctor has a good head on his shoulders. I hope you have good news on Tuesday. And yay for pens!

As for fandom, I'm still reading Harry Potter fics. LOL. I read a pretty good one the other day except for the fact that everyone was crying at the drop of a hat. Harry, Snape, Remus, everyone. That threw me off.

What are you reading?

lol I'd fail the first problem.

We've started watching The Expanse again, and I'm enjoying it so much! I think we stopped after the first season when it switched networks (maybe, I don't remember why we stopped), so we have like 6 seasons to look forward to!

I'm glad you are able to get at least most of the testing done, and I hope you get some answers.

I am in the process of writing a very long (for me; it's pushing 20000 words and not close to done) Raven Cycle fic, and the notable thing about it is that I've been on it for like a month and have been ignoring the voices that say 'this is too long for what it is, it's pointless, it's not the right genre, nobody wants this people want flower shop AUs or else they want stories with plots, this isn't even the story i most want to write i should switch to something else' and pushing forward.

So it doesn't feel like a real accomplishment but in the past i've been down on myself for not sticking with anything so i will hopefully keep sticking with it and see if it's worthwhile in the end

Sending knowledge energy to the world, but specifically to your doctors! That cognitive test sounds like a huge nightmare.

I rewatched the first half of Professor Marston and the Wonder Women again last night. It is so delightful.

Ah, America, where insurance companies know you medical needs better than your doctor does. *dripping with sarcasm*

A friend has me watching a couple of Chinese historical dramas but I wouldn't call myself fannish about them, just entertained. :D

Other than that, I'd say my greatest fannish accomplishment is NOT signing up for a bunch of things.

Yay MRIs! Query: have you had one before? If not, there's stuff it might be useful to know in advance about what it's like.

Tell me about your latest fannish interest

*points at DW full of screaming about The Magnus Archives*

They stuck the landing and I'm so so happy. That was a glorious five-season arc and they nailed it.

Insurance is stupid. I hope you get what you need out of the other three! Enjoy your pens, which you absolutely unequivocably deserve.

I'm glad you're able to get three of the four, but geez insurance. I very much you will have an answer or at least more knowledge on Tuesday.

Fannish stuff: my home fandom archive is about to transition from eFiction to Drupal software; the site goes read-only today and then down for a few days during the migration. I helped with the new site beta (aka try to break the site) and I'm really excited.

I'm glad you're getting some traction on the diagnostic front!

Fannishly I'm in a fallow period, still working on a big piece I love with Natasha, but not fired up about the fandom except enjoying a lot of Sam Wilson on my tightly curated tumblr dash. Been watching What We Do in the Shadows, which is great fun, but I'm having less luck finding fic for Nadja. Started watching The Great, this playful costume drama AU of Catherine the Great, and I'm having meta thoughts about how they're utilizing the sex scenes for character dev and not just a plot point bucket to hold titillation, but I want to give it more eps, because I have a very low tolerance for rape content, and I don't yet trust it.

I'm glad the insurance came through 75% of the way, at least. "Rapidly disappearing" math problems sounds like my personal hell.

Fannishly: I'm working *a lot* on the next part of the m/m origfic (which, okay, isn't fandom fandom but it's close-ish). I also just signed up for a flash exchange, for which I requested both Stranger Things and Moths as well as Star Wars, so I'm still in the same enthusiasms as I have been for a while now. ♥

Latest fannish interest: Great British Bake Off crossovers/mashups/AUs etc.. Also, reviewing some favorite characters from different shows and thinking about what elements of them I would like to steal for my own original characters.

Fannish: I'm waiting for FedEx to deliver my printed copy of the "House Always Sins" zine that you generously commented about online. I'm almost finished with a new B7 rarepair fic.
