BtVS Fic Recs
Five Things Spike Does With Angel's Ashes by
lyrstzha and written for MOI!!! It's no secret that I think Lyr is an absolutely brilliant writer, but this piece showcases her talent so well. (The woman should always write by request; every prompt I've ever given her has resulted in a gem like this one) Rather than being five separate vignettes, this short piece outlines the five things Spike does with Angel's ashes in chronological order after Angel's death. It's hurty, and oh so fitting, and there's Dru! *bounce*
Fic translated from French! With Angel and Wesley
fractal_bat has been practicing her French for class by writing drabbles and then translating them into English for us. The results are hi-larious.

I think I'm going to start posting prompts, free for the taking for anyone who wants them (and how cool would it be if several different people wrote variations on the same prompt) because I'm not going to be writing fanfic for awhile and I can at least feel all inspirey.
The Great Prompting of Aught Six, Prompt One:
I already gave this prompt to
hermionesviolin, but I think it's a good one, so I'll share. Choose a character you don't like in one of your fandoms and write a fic (drabble, ficlet, epic length novel) exploring why you don't like that character--just what it is about that character that squicks you, gets on your nerves, pisses you off, or makes you uncomfortable. I don't mean a character bashing fic; I mean one in which you really thoughtfully examine the elements of the character you don't like. Obviously, this prompt may go unclaimed, but if anyone does write a fic based on it, I'd love to know so I can read.

As for Jayne, Blake wouldn’t have him as a gift, and he didn’t trust him any further than he could throw a shuttle. Blake, and many of his former comrades, had seen faces like that. Often, the last thing they ever saw was the face of a man who, depending on employment conditions, might spend his work shift shoving loaves of pumpernickel into ovens. Or people. And he’d be just as happy working for the new regime as the one it replaced. In fact, one of the things that made Blake worry about the ambiguities of victory would be the need to put Jayne and his ilk on the payroll.

BTW check out
How can anybody *not* see Mal as a dark character tho?
I've seen good times, I've seen bad times
I've seen my share of hard times too.
But I lost my faith in this world,
Honey, when I lost you (Or, in Mal's case, You.)
I bet he had some options that didn't involve not only constantly getting shot at but constantly having to kill other people, but that's the one he chose.

I'm so glad you liked the fic. It was a really cool prompt to play with, so it was easy to find someplace fun to take it.

Of course it is a very very bad thing that i'm even trying to make my brain figure it out - its not like i don't already have three monster BtVS bunnies (yes, i added one to the list), a zillion SG-1 wips & bunnies and that lonely NCIS one. Oh and pesky real world stuff.
So with a - Huh? - I wave a hello and goodbye and shall endeavour to actually write you an email before another month goes by.
(Hugs!)

And it's good to talk to you. I haven't talked to so many people in quite some time because of my non eljaying of late. Anything new?

I'm homeless (living with my parents).
And today, my stuff finally arrived from the east coast, and all my books got caught in the rain so they're all warped out of shape. That really sucked.
But other than that, said Mrs. Lincoln, the play was great.
[The good news is, I'm actually, really, actually, done. And thank you once again; I literally couldn't have done it without you.]

And congrats Ms. Dr. I'm very very proud of you.
