Firefly Unzipped screening

Tonight was the inaugural screening of Firefly Unzipped, the first time I have seen the movie put together in one file. We invited all our friends over to watch, and OMG may I say how much we rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so freaking proud of this movie. I think the level of detail is amazing, and it honestly flows like an episode. Andy, the director/producer/camera man, is a f*cking genius. It looks and sounds so damn professional. Everybody laughed at all the right parts, and I think the Writercon reception is gonna be amazing. Plus Andy did a special feature that shows how we did the dialogue and manipulated the dolls to achieve certain effects.

I don't think it's apparent when watching the movie how intricate the filming was or how long some things took. We sometimes worked for three hours on filming a 15 sec sequence. I did not make the sets of Serenity, but other than that, I made most all the other sets. We're talking, sewing pillows and sheets and making costumes and yeah.

We began working on this in October, and now we're finally done, and I'm damn proud. It's funny and sweet and in places gorram bittersweet. Can't wait for all y'all to see it.

Here's some pictures of us enjoying the evening.

thanks for inviting me. that was a lot of fun. i was really impressed. i had no idea how much this was a REAL production. the script was incredible, and i absolutely loved the sets. and of course, JANE kicked ass (or got something done to ass, anyhow)! what a great character.

I'm so glad you guys were there. Having an audience upped our enjoyment by a whole helluva lot. Andy can really be credited with 90% of what makes the film amazing. He's got such an eye for editing, and he wrote about 85% of the script. And isn't his Jayne voice amazing?! The boy has a talent for mimicry.

I will take credit for much of the set awesomeness, though. Especially Inara's shuttle. :)

Oh honey, you are gonna love it. I picked up the DVD covers today from the printer and they look so freaking good. Andy was going on about how much he loved the way you had the spacesky peeking out from where the zipper opens up. *smooches you*

I might not mail it until I get back from Writercon, but I will get your copy out to you soon!

I'm just pleased he liked my efforts. :)

And I'm fine with waiting - I'd love to get a report/review of how it is received at Writercon... I wish you all success!!!

And the 'official' fan dvd is being shippied this month too!! 'Done The Impossible' will be in my hands soon - after almost a year of waiting!

BTW, when you get further along with B7, EmmaPeel did "Wobblevision" versions of several of the episodes with dolls, cans of vegetables, etc. (still photos), and it is a hallowed tradition at cons to do live-action Wobblevision episodes, photos of many of which are available online.
