Droit d’Seigneur (The Right of the Lord) byjjjean65 This is an A Knight's Tale fic; William/Adhemar; Jean has the period dialogue down, and she paints such a lovely picture.
Buffyverse fic recs
Be No Flower byglossing Buffy/Angel/Oz NC-17 This is a post-NFA fic that assumes that the final battle in that alley unleashed some pretty terrible side effects on the world. He probably just wanted a battle. A good fight full of roaring blood and impossible odds. He probably looked up at the sky, wearing *that* face, the imploring-helpless one, and found glorious suicide there. Angel always loses his soul in the rain.
A Fairly Tale--Six Easy Steps bythelastgoodname Buffy/Faith Six different looks at their fight scene in "Graduation." Faith grins back. "Okay, then," she says. "Give us a kiss." Buffy does. It is exactly the kiss Faith is expecting, and her jaw aches from it.
Holiday fic bytabaqui Spander, natch. Such a lovely little fic; I especially like Spike's thoughts about London after the Blitz.
Newly Human bywisdomeagle Dawn/Anya I almost don't know what to say about this ficlet. It's one of those things that every single line makes you go, "Dammmmmmmit, why didn't *I* get to write that!!!!!!!!!!!!!" LOL

Hot Rocks byexecutrix Mal/Simon Soft R; This is a caper fic, and it is a doozy of a heist. "I'm not his appendix, you know," River said. "Yeah, I know," Mal said. "He had that took out."
Conversion byalixtii Book and Kaylee; Book contemplates his life on Serenity.
Guarding a Cave Door at High Rates Simon-centric ficlet. Very interesting and ambiguous.
Camp as a Row of Little Pink Tents bymosca Mal/Jayne NC-17 Serenity does a job on a planet where men from all over the 'verse participate in a drag religious ceremony. Contrary to my description, this is not a silly or ridiculous fic. It's very, very smart. It uses cross-dressing as a way to explore facets of both Mal and Jayne's characters, and it is, quite frankly, pretty damn hot. I love the way this piece explores gender--its boundaries, it's limitations, and what happens when those boundaries are blurred or transgressed. In this fic, Jayne in a dress doesn't make Jayne less of a man, it hyper-masculinizes him instead. I think everyone should read this, especially those skeptical about cross-dressing.
