I'm so excited
Jan. 26th, 2005 09:36 amI was talking to one of my professors last night about my new fanfic obsession; I knew she was into Buffy, so I was telling her about some of the stuff I've found online. Turns out her former girlfriend used to write fanfic, so she knew all about it.
Get this! I have been planning to write my dissertation on a Victorian novelist named Ouida; she wrote what we would consider romance novels of the day. Dr. Harker suggests that I write my dissertation about BtVS fanfiction instead, with a Victorian lit connection. Some of Victorian lit was very much like the fanfiction of today; it came out in installments (a chapter each week in the newspaper) kinda like all of us waiting for somebody's next post; there was a lot of feedback--people wrote tons of letters to the editors and to individual writers themselves; they formed salons and groups to adore their fave writers (again, kinda like us).
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have found a way to make RL coincide with lj. Ooh, and I just noticed that
amejisuto put a very pretty icon made by
darkhavens on here for me.
