This version of Matt is a little broken, a little fucked up, a little kinky and man man man do I love it. He has a hard time getting his life together after the fire sale and an even harder time going after what he wants, but when he gets it? Hot like a burning thing. This fic seems hard and gritty to me while still retaining what I view as Matt's sort of inherent sweetness and mirth. Nicely done.

In this series, John has never been attracted to guys when he finds himself wanting Matt. He has a lot of hangups about his changing sexuality that read as very real to me. I like that falling into bed isn't this incredibly easy thing and that John has to change a lot of his assumptions about himself in order to make the relationship work.
