Now that I have real internet, I can watch vids. And I have been watching them!!!!!!!!! And they are making me so happy, I have to share. (Don't forget to to click the "watch in high quality" button for those vids housed on Youtube; it makes a huge difference)

Your Warming Smile SPN Sam/Dean by maichan2; Adult
I am utterly besotted with this vid for many, many reasons. Thank you [livejournal.com profile] emella for introducing me to it. The song is fantastic--beautiful, beautiful melody if a little simplistic lyrically, but oh those simple lyrics are put to such elegant use here. This vid is firmly from Dean's POV and it is all about Sammy's smile. It is the greatest homage to that boy's teeth that I have ever seen and I cannot describe how wonderfully happy it makes me feel. The editing is exquisite, simply exquisite. I am not a huge fan of the manips that occur in the last ten seconds or so of the vid; I think the work would have been better without them. But overall, I think this is one of the best narrative vids I've ever seen. It tells a wonderful and sweet story that has just the right note of poignancy and I defy you not to enjoy this. :)

Still Alive by counteragent1; SPN
Man, when this fandom vids meta, it pulls no punches. And I love it. This is a visual litany of the women of supernatural--broken and bleeding, pulling no punches themselves, but ultimately destroyed. The vid is overlaid with images and comments and comm names from fandom; the intersection between what the show gives us and what we do with it that this vid explores is really interesting. Women =/= fandom, but what does it mean when those fans who identify as female (myself included) watch these other women being killed week after week and come back for more? At one point the song states, "I'm not even angry. I'm being so sincere right now. Even though you broke my heart and killed me." The vid's answer seems to have several layers--that we concentrate our efforts on those who are still alive (Sam and Dean) and that we, through our fannish efforts, give these women life in fic and art. Really fascinating work.

Be My Yoko Ono by Dei; SPN; Sam/Dean
OMG do the Barenaked Ladies take me back to freshman year of college. I have such nostalgia for Gordon and this vid plays right into that. It is a funny vid, a clever vid, a masterfully edited vid. It is also from Dean's POV and is a wonderful look at Sammy in the role of sidekick. I think the way this vidder matches the song lyrics to the footage is very well done; in fact I had to watch several times before I caught everything that's going on. One of my favorite parts is when Dean (as vid POV) asserts that Sam shouldn't be blamed for the rift between him and John. I also particularly the enjoy the bridge before the final round of refrain. *happy sigh*

Old Brown's Daughter by [livejournal.com profile] kassrachel; SGA; Rodney/Katie, Rodney/John
This is a pitch-perfect offering from a first time vidder that everyone should go shower some love on. Again, the song is an absolutely fine choice; I mean they don't make lyrics like this if they don't want us to vid 'em, folks. [livejournal.com profile] kassrachel offers hir commentary on the vid HERE. My interpretation is a little different, but I hesitate to state it here because I don't wanna ruin that first chorus for ya. If anybody's interested, ask and I'll tell all in comments. :)

This is, I think, a vidding contest for Stargate. I'm not exactly sure and I don't know how long these vids will be housed here, so go and watch them now before they move. Korat's "Whispers" is incredibly well done; I love the musical choice and how the melody disintegrates as what we are shown onscreen becomes increasingly violent. MythQueen's "This is Why I'm (Not) Hot" is a funny look at Lucius and Valika's "Baal's Song" a very funny look at Baal.
