1. Fiona is her old self again--talking, smiling, playing, social and up to mischief.
"Is Mommy beautiful?"
"No," she says and shakes her head.
"Is Emma beautiful?"
"No," she says.
"Is Fiona beautiful?"
"Yes!" she says. "Umm hmm. Fee byooful."
She's going back to daycare on Monday, so please cross your fingers for me that she won't immediately get sick again. She's ready to go back. She's been asking to go to daycare and to see her friends. Once she started feeling better, she was bored with being here. LOL
Next steps: having her tested for immune deficiency and possibly a referral to a pediatric pulmonologist.
2. Fiona's latest story at night is One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish which reminded me of the wonderful Out of the Dark Technosagery wrote for Yuletide a few years ago. (Locked to site so log in to read.) Look what we found in the park in the dark. We will take him home. We will call him Clark. *shivers* Such a lovely job evoking both horror and the lyrical style of the original.
3. I have spent the past three nights reading Big Bang Theory fic while Mom was here because we couldn't watch the shows we normally might and I'm not interested in her shows for the most part.
I was not surprised to discover that the juggernaut pairing is Penny/Sheldon. Before Amy's character appears, the show spends a lot of time putting Penny and Sheldon together in emotional situations and having them comfort each other. Even now that both of them are deeply committed to Leonard and Amy, the show still depicts Penny and Sheldon as having a great deal of affection for each other (see the recent episode where they stare into each other's eyes and talk about their feelings).
I didn't start watching the show from the beginning, and I'm glad I didn't because there's such a tonal shift from that first season to now. In the first season, Sheldon is just mean with very little to endear him. Howard is god-awful, and Leonard truly does fit that Nice Guy stereotype that I think is often thrown around a little to readily in fandom (which is a whole 'nother digression). Characterization has subtly shifted so that Sheldon is rarely mean; instead he's neurotic or anxious or socially clueless, and he is shown to deeply care for his friends. Howard is still pretty god-awful, but it's easier to take his god-awfulness when he's completely faithful to Bernadette and clearly in love with her. Leonard is generally depicted as a good boyfriend, a good friend, and a good guy in these later seasons which is why I was pissed off by this week's new episode. ( SPOILERS )
