26 Guardian fics in the archive this year
I'm not reccing these individually because they are all awesome.

in calm or stormy weather
Goblin Market
This is a really interesting take on the poem; when Laura eats the fruit, the world ends, and she's stuck in an apocalypse.

A Burning Coal of Kindness
Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison
Maia is kidnapped, and Beshelar is injured in the process. I love the loyalty and affection that runs both ways between them.

Die Hard
McClane/Farrell
Lovely take on the Matt moves in with John after the fire sale classic; just the right amount of pining plus sass and snark.

The Bones of the Hills
Tiffany Aching
This author has the voices down pat; I could believe this is an interlude Pratchett forgot in a drawer somewhere. *loves*

I got a Christmas card from [personal profile] lyr and another from [personal profile] sholio stuffed with delectable tea. I am sipping black currant black tea right now! This morning I woke up with a cup of the chai that [personal profile] executrix sent me in one of her inimitable Christmas packages, and later this evening, I will settle down to color a page in the TNG coloring book [personal profile] misbegotten sent me. I don't have a damn thing to do today except read fic and drink good drinks and eat the kickass chicken and wild rice soup Josh made last night and love my friends and family. Thanks all for being a part of my holidays.

Rocks in His Pocket
Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery"
Such a plausible way for the lottery to move forward into the 21st century to become, if not any less creepy, at least more palatable.

The Firth
Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery"
Truly disturbing world building in which the murdered are condemned to forever sacrifice themselves until nothing is left. Really well written.

Epiphany
Mansfield Park
Fanny/Edmund
I love this look at how Fanny and Edmund actually get together. I love the way that this author writes Fanny.

Both Sense and Sensibility fics in the archive are absolutely lovely and both are Elinor/Colonel Brandon, a ship which had never occurred to me before but which I am wholeheartedly embracing now. Really good reads here.
