Everyone, go read the two (TWO!) amazing stories Somenonnie wrote me for Yuletide.

Ascendant
Broken Earth Trilogy
Nassun-centric
This is the story I was hoping for when I made my request--Nassun healing in the aftermath of canon. Really beautifully written and so full of hope.

To Augur the Future
Carnival Row
Piety-centric
This is also the story I was hoping for when I requested Carnival Row--Piety backstory with very cool world building that makes her sympathetic while also explaining how she becomes who she is in canon.

I have been so lucky that every year without fail, I get the best stories. This year is no exception.

Off to read the archive (it's ass o'clock here; pitch dark; I keep waiting for Fiona to come barreling out of her room demanding to open to presents LOL).

The Facebook of Margery Kempe
14th century RPF
*dies laughing*
Margery is such a mess. This is one of the funniest things I've read in a long time.

an aftermath
Alchemy Wars by Ian Tregillis
Fix-it-fic in which Berenice lives. Oh, my heart. I sniffled all through this. So lovely.

In Confinement
Circe by Madeline Miller
Pasiphae comes to the island when Circe is pregnant. Really beautiful look at Circe, Penelope, Telemachus, and Circe and Telemachus's first child.

The Arc Towards the Sun
Iliad
Hector/Andromache
Their love is one of the high parts of the Homeric epics for me, and this story does it justice. Really beautifully written.

I've never had anyone attempt to guess what story I wrote for Yuletide, but anyone who guesses correctly will be treated to a ficlet! I wrote two stories in the archive, one for a fandom in which I've written before and another for a shiny new fandom.

I don't have any guesses yet except that I think Jay Tryfanstone may have written the Margery Kempe fic; it reminds me of his (her? not sure) Augustine fic which is also truly excellent.

A Room with a Crappy View
Aliens Franchise
Ripley/Hicks
AU ending for Ripley, Hicks and Newt; this is such a meaty story. I am in awe of people who manage to write such long stories for exchanges. This author really gets Ripley; love the look inside her head.

No Need for Mistletoe
White Christmas
Judy/Phil
This writer has nailed the dialogue; I can hear the characters saying these lines. Nothing much happens beyond talking and kissing, and I love every second of it.
