I am so sorry! In the short term, when your FiL is a little better, can he get an ignition lock for the car that your MiL won't be able to defeat? The answer is probably "no," but is there an adult day care center that will pick up your MiL and let her be with other people, get a meal, and have some activities, in a safe environment? Or a home care or respite program to give them a hand with chores and give your FiL some relief from caregiving?
