Dear Yuletide Author 2015:
(The beginning of this letter is a C&P from previous letters because my fic preferences and feelings about Yuletide in general remain the same.)
Let me say upfront that I will be pleased with anything you choose to write for me. We are all busy people with other engagements in our lives, and that you took the time out of your busy schedule to write something expressly for me is enough to make my Yuletide a very happy one. Although I'm sharing with you here the things that grab me about these fandoms, please feel free to go where the muse takes you. I want you to write the story that best pleases *you* and your vision of these characters and this fandom rather than worrying about whether I'm going to like the story. I will. Trust me. :)
I have no squicks. Character death, violence, mpreg, what-have-you, all five by five with me. I love gen, het, and slash equally. No taboo story elements for Lorraine.
In terms of general preferences for fanfic, I most often write and like to read stories that are canon-compliant, stories that live behind the scenes or in missing moments, stories that tell us what characters were doing before they showed up on our screens and where they are going once the credits roll. However, this does not mean that I would not be delighted with a college AU or a fic that shows the effects of changes in canon. I am a huge fan of peripheral characters and love to see the action through their eyes. Finally, I am never so happy as when I am crying, so feel free to bring on the weepy. :)
Imperial Radch series by Ann Leckie
I absolutely adore this series; I haven't finished reading the last book yet, and I would love to have more of the universe to read when I do finish. One of my favorite parts of the Imperial Radch series is the world building. The plot is interesting and novel to me; I never know what's going to happen next (and I'm a little sad to finally be nearing the end).
I will be absolutely thrilled with anything you'd like to write about these characters, but some ideas that particularly interest me: Tisarwat dealing with having housed Anaander Mianaai's consciousness, Breq during the time leading up to Ancillary Justice when she's figuring out how to pass for human and putting her plan together, Kalr Five and tea dishes (ruminations on the importance of tea to the culture, dishes, Kalr Five drinking tea with her parents as a kid--anything about that social convention would be really neat). Any combination of pairing [or none] is welcome!

This book was such a fun read--genuinely suspenseful and featuring such a powerful friendship that I was moved to tears when Agnieszka forces the taint of the forest to leave Kasia.
I just want more of this universe, so whatever you are moved to write will be awesome. I would love to see more of Kasia and Agnieszka as kids together, more of Kasia in her new role at the end of the novel, more about Kasia's mom trying to deal with the changes in her daughter now that she's free of the Wood, more about the other magic users like Agnieszka, more about the Dragon and all that time he spends in the Tower with girls who are desperately trying to avoid him. The back story for the Wood-Queen and her people also has so many wonderful spaces that could be filled with fic. Any combination of pairing [or none] is welcome!
The Following
I normally choose Any character for all my Yuletide requests, but this time I picked Joe Carroll and Ryan Hardy. This show is so heavily focused on the two of them, and I felt strangely cheated by the finale that Joe actually died. I loved Ryan faking his own death to carry on searching for the bad guys, but I really wanted him to still be seeing Joe's "ghost," possibly even embracing Joe as a mentor on his vigilante journey. To be perhaps too specific, I would love a fic about just that--Ryan hunting and having conversations (and possibly smoochies) with his invisible serial killer best friend/nemesis. But I would be just as pleased reading any fic about the two of them.
I feel like this show is super super slashy; many episodes felt like they were drawn directly from the Ryan/Joe tag on AO3. However, I would also love to read a gen exploration of their relationship. Regardless of whether it stems from a romantic attraction or not, Joe seems to desperately want to impress Ryan. He seems to feel this connection with him that Ryan slowly comes to share. By the end, they are the most important people to each other, and that's fascinating whether they ever wanted to sleep with each other or not.
Fear the Walking Dead
I once again chose a specific character for this fandom. I love Kim Dickens. I loved her on Deadwood and Treme; she's got serious acting chops. But her performance as Madison was strangely flat to me in FtWD. I think the show was going for stoic; Madison's been through a great deal (the death of her first husband, her son's addiction), and in some ways, the zombie apocalypse must just feel like an extension of everything else that's going wrong in her life.
I like the show, and I like Madison. I'm rooting for her and the others to make it to that cruise ship and survive. But I need to know more about her; the show didn't give me enough of her back story and I didn't feel like I could see into her thoughts well enough to truly connect with her.
I would love any story you could tell me about Madison. Tell me about her relationship with her first husband or her relationship with Travis. Tell me about her dealing with the beginning of Chris's addiction. Tell me about what happens to her after season 1 ends. Help me get inside her head and figure out what makes her tick.
Thanks, Yuletide Author. I'm looking forward to reading the story you're writing for me.
