The Mystery of Proud Typewriter goes swimmingly! It is both proud and mysterious and also am-freaking-bitious. I think this is the most ambitious thing I have ever tried to write. I am attempting to do a lot of things with narrative structure that I haven't done before, namely incorporating different kinds of documents into the narrative (like letters and snippets of articles, etc) ala AS Byatt's POSSESSION. And I'm having to do all this freaking research on turn of the century typewriters and HP Lovecraft and Rhode Island. I don't know how long each chaper will be, but I'm planning on three because I want to alternate POV between Sam and Dean.

I think I'm gonna need a beta read on this one. My darling kitty_poker1 is retired *wails* and even if she weren't, she's not familiar with the world of SPN and as I'm experimenting a wee bit with Dean's characterization that's an important component of the beta read for this fic. I want to be certain that the case file portion of the fic is interesting and engaging and that it doesn't bog down in expository crap, that all the disparate pieces of the fic are well integrated, and that Dean's characterization reads true despite the hijinks I'm going to put him through. LOL So, anybody that's up on hir SPN wanna give this a beta at some unspecified point in the future? (I'm estimating it'll be at least a week, possibly longer before I'm done with this)

Vector by rageprufrock Sirius/Remus This is set post-Hogwarts but before James and Lily are killed. It’s told from Sirius’s POV and is an arresting look at the dynamics of the relationship between the two men. I felt like I understood something more about Sirius after reading this, and something more about Remus as well—-I find myself believing that this is canon. Remus through Sirius’s eyes is beautiful and dangerous and also incredibly fragile. Wonderful read.

Invisible to See by pandarus Harry/Draco, Draco/Justin Adult Oh this is such a good read. This is Harry on the outskirts, watching something he can’t have, and Draco and Neville are friends! Yay! I don’t want to give away too much, for the plot hinges on a Seeeeekrit. LOL

Still Life by monochromal Harry/Draco OMG, portrait!fic. This is a really insightful look at what it might mean to be a portrait in the wizarding world. So many objects are imbued with a kind of sentience there, but sentience to what degree? How much of a life can a portrait have, and is it the kind of life one would want? It’s a weeper, kids.
