The Mystery of Proud Typewriter goes swimmingly! It is both proud and mysterious and also am-freaking-bitious. I think this is the most ambitious thing I have ever tried to write. I am attempting to do a lot of things with narrative structure that I haven't done before, namely incorporating different kinds of documents into the narrative (like letters and snippets of articles, etc) ala AS Byatt's POSSESSION. And I'm having to do all this freaking research on turn of the century typewriters and HP Lovecraft and Rhode Island. I don't know how long each chaper will be, but I'm planning on three because I want to alternate POV between Sam and Dean.
I think I'm gonna need a beta read on this one. My darling
kitty_poker1 is retired *wails* and even if she weren't, she's not familiar with the world of SPN and as I'm experimenting a wee bit with Dean's characterization that's an important component of the beta read for this fic. I want to be certain that the case file portion of the fic is interesting and engaging and that it doesn't bog down in expository crap, that all the disparate pieces of the fic are well integrated, and that Dean's characterization reads true despite the hijinks I'm going to put him through. LOL So, anybody that's up on hir SPN wanna give this a beta at some unspecified point in the future? (I'm estimating it'll be at least a week, possibly longer before I'm done with this)
