astolat Sheppard/McKay Adult John and Rodney are put into statis after they're injured and life goes on for them in a virtual environment. This is a really, really lovely fic. I like fics in which circumstances force the characters to re-evaluate each other and themselves and also any fic where you can imagine up a fridge full of liquor is top notch in my book.
Symbiotic by Kel Sheppard/McKay Adult This examines John and Rodney's relationship through the lens of symbiosis and all the nuances of that particular state of being. It's a very clever frame for the story and each vignette is very nicely told. Lovely voices.
The New Math by
corinna_5 Sheppard/McKay Adult I love fics where John has this special relationship with Atlantis, where the city is anthropomorphized and given sentience and this is a wonderful example of such fic. Atlantis decides that she knows what's best for John and tries to give him a helping hand.
Verb, Transitive by
kageygirl Sheppard/McKay Adult We are a clever, clever bunch, we fans. We love words and we love to wrangle something new and interesting out of them. This fic is a great example of that. Here we have Rodney's relationship with John laid bare through the lens of the word "loose" and all its transitive meanings.
Bang by
rageprufrock Sheppard/McKay Adult The senior staff is back on earth for their two year review and John can't get used to being away from Atantis--the lights that operate by thought, the doors that open as soon as he approaches them. He keeps ending up in the hospital with a concussion and well. His doctor thinks he knows who's to blame for John's injuries. This will make you howl with laughter. And then, if you're like me, when you read what Rodney does to fix everything, you will also tear up and feel your heart swell ten times in your chest.
Amnesiac by
cesperanza Sheppard/McKay Adult Sheppard wakes up with amnesia and tries to negotiate his day without remembering who he is. I enjoyed this fic very much; however, right toward the end it's a little difficult to determine who's speaking as the writer doesn't give us a new paragraph with each new speaker. I had to read the last two vignettes very carefully in order to determine which characters were saying which lines. Despite that minor quibble, this is an engaging and short read.
