The Awesome Adventures of Andy and Ava by [livejournal.com profile] kroki_refur Gen This story is told through stick figure drawings and will make you bust a gut. Kroki really has a gift for the funny.

The Knuckles of Skinnybone Tree by [livejournal.com profile] hansbekhart Sam/Dean Adult I don't really know how to describe this fic in a way that does justice to it. This is not schmoopy Wincest or even Wincest that is comfortable with itself. This is raw, achingly raw and bruised and so very, very full of fear. I must confess that I don't know exactly what is happening in the final moments of this fic; I mean, I understand the action as it's written. But I don't quite know what the author is trying to say. I just know that it hurts to read and that's good enough for me.

Midwinter by [livejournal.com profile] sesperis John/Rodney Adult This fic is set in the future, after our intrepid explorers have lived in Atlantis a long while, long enough that Atlantis is the first place that springs to mind when they hear "home," long enough that Pegasus has infiltrated the way they think and they way they act. We are given glimpses of a beautiful Athosian ritual and allowed to watch the SGA crew as they participate. This fic is very melancholy for me, although I accept that others may find it more hopeful and full of promise than I do. The descriptions are really gorgeous; this is a total sensory experience.

And Be One Traveler by [livejournal.com profile] amireal and [livejournal.com profile] trinityofone David Hewlett/John/Rodney Adult This fic is contained within the comm [livejournal.com profile] fic_of_doom which you must join to read. The basic premise is that David Hewlett finds himself transported to Atlantis. This fic amuses me because I often fantasize scenarios in which I find myself transported into the worlds of the TV shows I love so much. Watching him determine the ways in which the Hollywood version and the "real" version of Atlantis compare is a lot of fun. There's also some wonderfully funny dialogue and dissection of both John and Rodney's characters. There's also a surprising amount of angst here, which y'all know I adore, and an ending that I find very satisfying. However, I don't really like the mechanism they use to get David to Atlantis; I think it's confusing and it just doesn't function well for me as a reason for him to be able to move back and forth between these realities.

I Got Soul, But I'm Not a Soldier by [livejournal.com profile] minervacat John/Rodney Adult (Part two of two, with the first chapter linked at the top) This is John after Rodney has died and it's one of the most gloriously painful things I've read in any fandom. Y'all know me; I love to cry. Really nothing I'd rather be doing on my downtime. And this is that full body, sobbing like the dickens, "THEY CAN NEVER EVER BE APART!!!!!!" wailing kinda fic. It makes me hope that in the final episode of this show the PTB don't let either of our boys buy the farm heroically; if my reaction to this fic is any indication, I don't think my heart could take it.

The New Atlantean Dictionary of Literary Terms: A Complete Reference in Four Volumes by [livejournal.com profile] thingswithwings Teyla/Heightmeyer, John/Rodney Adult This fic is truly, truly lovely. I think that the relationship between Teyla and Kate is exquisitely portrayed, especially the way Kate's facade finally cracks and we get to see the human being beneath the shrink. There's also this amazing, amazing moment in the story when all of Atlantis works as one, where everyone is linked to everyone else and I've never seen anything like this moment. It's so beautiful and so perfect and it becomes the opportunity to say so many very insightful things about these characters that we love so much.

Nondisclosure Agreement by [livejournal.com profile] synecdochic Mostly John gen, but some hints of McShep This is written in list form, which I love. It's also about secrets, which I love. One of my favorite things is mining a character for what lies beneath the surface, the wealth of information we simply are not privy to but certainly inform that character's decisions.

Alpha Centauri by Hth Ronon/Rodney/John Adult Okay, here's the thing. I like this fic, I really do. I think that the sex is very hot. I think that we get some particularly insightful looks at Ronon's psyche and a wonderfully built backstory for him. I also think that Ronon, Rodney and John are incredibly flawed people in this fic and I don't always like them here (which is also of the good). However, the fic starts to get confusing in the later chapters to me; it seems like the timeline is a little out of synch or something. So, good read, but some structural problems, I think.

Old Soldiers Die Hard Rodney/John Adult This is outsider POV fic which is something I adore when it's done well. I love seeing Rodney and John through the eyes of someone completely uninvested in their lives. I sincerely do not want to spoil you for this story, so I won't offer any plot info, but I will reveal that you'll find yourself tearing up (in a good way).
