OMG,y'all, I feel like I'm losing my mind
Mar. 14th, 2019 07:05 pmI'm sorry if I've been curt with anyone lately. I just am kind spiralling out of control, I think.
My dad's close friend died yesterday; in addition to making him sad, I think it's also hammering home his own mortality especially since getting over this mycoplasm infection thing is already at the four month mark for him and still isn't healed yet. And he's going to have chemo next week which is going to kick his ass.
When we went to physical therapy this week, Emma had the epiphany that the likelihood she's not going to be able to run on the cross country team is pretty high, and she is really devastated. I had to do the responsible, calm, stoic helpful mom thing and tell her about my struggles and my broken body and how people with physical limitations have to learn to adapt and do things different ways and replace some activities with others while I was having a hysterical meltdown on the inside because I know how important running is to her.
There was a school shooting threat at a nearby school; some of Emma's friends have friends who go to that school and posted about it on social media, so Emma got really jumpy, and then they had an unplanned fire drill that really freaked her out. Then a boy in her class pushed his girlfriend down at school and broke her finger and her wrist, and Emma feels really uncomfortable being around this kid now, which I fucking understand.
The oven that we ordered weeks ago came in at the beginning of this week. When are they going to install it? On the 22nd during an event that's been planned for more than a year (fortunately, I can spare Josh). I've already been without an oven for weeks now; that'll put it at over a month. I'm just incandescent with rage.
But I got an article I've been revising for publication turned in before deadline, and I had lunch with my husband today which is a rare treat, and I'm going to have all next week of spring break to watch Guardian andreally feverishly work and read and write so that I can have some breathing room when school starts back up.
I just am losing my cope here. *sigh*
I need to come up with a shitpollst to take my mind off things. Any ideas?
