I love that the auto-translate hears your "air" as "error." My aunt's from Alabama, and when she says "error" it has 7 syllables. They just wish you'd said "error."
The baby thing (or other endearments) don't really bother me unless they're excessive. I don't mind British endearments at all. I read a fic the other day where Draco referred to a small child (not his own) as "darling" and Harry snickered at him and Draco was all, "It's what Mother used to say to me." I loved that.
I like a judicious use of endearments -- something out of character that's blurted once during sex or for effect. But I can see how "Oh, baby, I love you!" would be annoying.
Oh! I don't like random (non-canon) nicknames at all. Harry calling Draco "Drake" or Jared calling Jensen "Jen" incessantly. But I shorten people's names constantly in real life. Just ask Vin. Okay. That's all I got. 'Raine. ;)
I relistened to this and realized I am breathing into the phone like a pedo.
I'm okay with some endearments in fic, particularly if the character uses them canonically--like Spike saying pet or love. But I get tripped up on baby. IDK
That is some weird-ass auto-transcribe. But about pet names...
I have never seriously called anybody baby (though babe I sometimes have, but never in bed), and I'm not generally fond of my characters doing it either, unless I know that that's something they'd do. Mostly I try to make it personal by working out what pet names make the most sense for each character to use. That said, upon reflection, I don't think I've ever had a character use a pet name during sex at all, which is probably a reflection of the fact that I don't do that myself (I avoid all personal nouns and pronouns of any kind; I find it's easier that way).
I am not a huge fan of pet names in the bedroom in real life or fic. It just sounds contrived. In terms of fantasy, I can apparently handle a Ron Weasley that weeps with despair for love of Draco but not a Ron who says, "Oh, baby, get the lube." LOL
