1. MARRIAGE EQUALITY IN THE UNITED STATES! ABOUT TIME! *drops mic*
2. I finally went to the doctor about my arm. I started taking steroids yesterday, and my arm feels almost normal now. Why did I not go to the doctor in March when I first started crying myself to sleep and having trouble lifting a glass of water? Why did I decide in May (IN MAY!) that what I should do is go to the chiropractor instead of the doctor? It may be time for my decision making powers to be revoked. *sigh* BUT MY ARM FEELS HELLA BETTER!!!!!!!!!!
3. Emma and I saw Jurassic World today, and it was awesome!!!!!! The score remains fantastic, I appreciated the continuity with B.D. Wong's character, and I loved all the callbacks to the previous movies in the franchise. Much like the first movie, the kids are the heart of the whole thing. I loved the big brother taking care of his baby brother and how pitch perfect the movie got the sibling relationship, both with them and with their mom and aunt. I thought the special effects and the dinosaurs were freaking awesome. Starlord the Raptor Whisperer was awesome. I love that in the end his babies chose to protect him instead of eat him. I loved the dude and the chick in the control room. I loved that Aunt Claire ran around that whole facility IN HEELS AND A RIDICULOUS WHITE PANTSUIT THING FROM THE 90s THAT JANEWAY PROBABLY COVETED WHEN SHE WAS STUCK ON EARTH IN THE PAST WITH SARAH SILVERMAN OMG! She was badfuckingass. And I was especially happy that Original T-Rex takes down the baddy.
My one quibble is that I do not believe in the least that InGen just lets the original facility just grow over with useable equipment and vehicles inside. They clearly captured the T-Rex, so the problem is not that it's too dangerous to go inside. They would have taken every scrap of usable material and then razed that building. I think, however, that one major plot quibble in such a movie is allowable. :)

Date: 2015-06-29 03:03 pm (UTC)Here in Italy there is still so much to do: we didn't even manage to pass a civil union law, let alone a gay marriage one. The main reason is that we have had such unstable governments lately (if you're curious, a just left a a verbose explanation over at redbrunja's journal, LOL) that every kind of reform, no matter how necessary, is beyond impossible. If politicians can't agree on a badly needed new reform of the electoral system how are they supposed to deal with such a divisive issue as gay marriage? *sighs*
But there's also the Vatican long shadow to consider and a long tradition of bigotry to overcome. Hopefully this news will set a bright international example.
