Hives are kind of fucking scary. "WHOO my body is puffing up and turning red and my skin is getting tight and stripey what the FUCK." I had one friend whose face swelled up to three times its regular size after eating, of all things, Italian food. IIRC she later figured out there was something she was allergic to in the pasta sauce.
