1. Episode reviews for the last two weeks of Gotham:
Last week: Poor Penguin. Ngyma stays out all night with Isabella. :( I am convinced at this point that she is some sort of nefarious character. No way she looks exactly like Kristin, talks in riddles, and cozies up to Ed all coincidentally. Maybe she's a clone? Or an evil twin sister? IDK She's making paper dolls like a weirdo, that's for sure. LOL I loved Penguin confronting her and trying to scare her off with Ed's murderous past. I thought Ed confessing what he'd done to Isabella when he didn't have to was kinda adorable, but I still suspect her. Who wants to date a murderer?
Poor Jim. Both Lee and Vail see through his motives for telling Tetch to kill Lee.
Poor us. Those hallucination effects are terrible, and I hope never to see them again. I did like Barbara as the elevator attendant, and I did like his dad helping him. I wonder who's wearing the same ring as Jim's dad at the episode's end.
This week: I hate that the Chief has descended into madness. I think he fought it admirably, but now he's clearly the big bad Jim will have to defeat. :( Tetch waving at Alice's blood in his body was really funny, though.
Bullock's brand of sarcasm = best brand of sarcasm
I am even more deeply convinced that Isabella is nefarious after this episode. She wouldn't just coincidentally have the same glasses as Kristin, and her dressing up exactly like Kristin (while super hot and kinky, not gonna lie) makes me think she's got some kind of plan for Ed. Ed should have had better sense than to send Oswald to break up with Isabella, but that scene was hilarious. I love that she sees that Penguin loves Ed. I wonder if she will have survived the last episode; we're not actually shown her crashing the car.
I don't like Lee's hair for the engagement party.
2. Reviews of the last two weeks of Lucifer:
Last week: Poor, poor Lucifer. :( He looks like a homeless magician LOL.
Loved the humor in this episode--Maze's sex swing; Trixie wanting to be President of Mars. I loved how much it clearly meant to Maze that Trixie didn't recoil from her true face and called it cool.
Tricia Helfer is playing Mom so ambiguously. I can't help but think she's up to no good, but she also seems to genuinely love her kids. IDK She knows that Amenadiel doesn't have his powers and says they both can regain their powers; this doesn't sound like a good idea to me. I liked hearing more about their childhood, that Uriel played pranks and Amenadiel would take the blame.
Lucifer playing "Unforgiven" was inspired, and I was so so sad when he finally dropped his mask and Dr. Linda couldn't deal.
This week: I liked getting backstory on Chloe and the tragic loss of her father. How bittersweet that pretty much the last thing he said was how proud he is of her. *sniffle*
Lucifer's self-loathing continues to be very interesting. I like that the show is allowing Lucifer and Dan to bond while still being prickly with each other. Project Learning How to Douche (Dansformation, Douchifur) makes for some of the funniest moments of the show. Lucifer in Dan clothes is hysterical. Lucifer doing an American accent is hysterical. But it takes a turn that makes me sniffle when Lucifer puts out a hit on himself and Boris says that he can tell that both Dan and Lucifer loathe "this Morningstar." I think they drew some nice parallels between Dan and Lucifer, with Dan going to improv to learn to be more spontaneous and Lucifer pretending to be Dan to learn to be more helpful. Dan's Lucifer impression is really hilarious.
Everything with Linda was so awesome--how scared Linda is, how much that hurts Maze's feelings, and the way Maze just won't let their friendship go. *my heart*
Loved Trixie giving Maze career advice (and Lucifer a high-five). Loved Maze tracking down the warden and then realizing she could be a bounty hunter. "Hunting humans is a job!"

Date: 2016-11-09 07:15 am (UTC)One of the things I love with the show is that often, neither side is "wrong". It's understandable for Linda to be terrified, and it's understandable for Maze to be hurt. There's no yelling at the TV "stop being a dick!", because no-one is, they're just in different places. I'm so glad Linda opened the door.
And poor Lucifer. One of the things I find interesting is in most people the "I'm so useless" from someone who presents like him (handsome, rich, smart) would come across as fishing or pick-up tricks, but the actor plays it very well, it comes across as genuine. He does sad eyes so very well.

Date: 2016-11-09 09:59 pm (UTC)Maze and Trixie's friendship is fantastic. So cute and endearing.
I love that Maze and Linda are both coming from an understandable place and I really hope that she can start seeing Lucifer again. I think her fear really hurt him as well.
And I completely agree with you that Tom Ellis acts the part so brilliantly. He does sad so gloriously. He's great when he's ostentatious and silly and having fun, but boy does he pack a punch when he's sad.
