they really should've tried to keep lucas' input to a minimum with the prequels.

Agreed. I don't think he understands what people liked about his original work.

He was never ever good at dialogue, and it's kind of heresy, but I don't think he's that good at the technical side of directing either -- not like Spielberg, who did really different things with the camera frame, from Jaws on. He had Carrie Fisher polishing his script FFS, but he got drunk on the idea he was this Grand Creator.

Yeah, it came out after she died. That was way before she got industry fame and a lot of big bucks by polishing scripts, too. Word was she helped out a lot on When Harry Met Sally. She helped Rian Johnson a lot with the TLJ script.
