Also, it's a fantasy show--if it took place in an actual Chinese city in the real world, I would think much more cultural information would be required. Sort of like someone writing Gotham fic without having been to New York City or knowing much about it; it's a lesser sin than doing the same thing for Sex and the City or Billions.
