When I was a kid in MS, we started the day after Labor Day. Emma is sixteen, and she's started school here in GA in August from the beginning although the start date has slowly gotten earlier and earlier in August.
I always say that I don't do Facebook because I don't want to constantly tell students I won't be friends with them, but the real and main reason is that I don't want to be friends with my family who would drive me nuts with all their political and religious postings.
