Miryem holds her own as the new queen of the Staryk. I love how badass she is; she has such a thorough grip of fairy tale logic.

Haunting of Hill House--Jackson
Nell/Theo
This writer has perfectly captured Jackson's style; this reads exactly like some forgotten pages from the novel. Theo is such a wonderful mixture of cruel and kind, and Eleanor is being subsumed by the house. *shivers*

OMG, yes. That Haunting of Hill House fic is my platonic ideal of HH fic. It's very much in keeping with the language of the original, and the writer really gets Eleanor--the ways she limits herself, the way she wants more and doesn't understand how to get that. If you didn't, read the recip comment on that fic; it is also super insightful and interesting commentary on the fic and the novel.
