1. Warnock has been elected our Senator! What a victory, and I'm very happy to have been part of it.

2. I have finished grading, turned in grades, and put the semester to bed. I also had a book review to turn in at the same time, so I was writing that simultaneously with grading (which was actually kinda nice; just as soon as I got disgusted with grading, I could switch gears to writing). I got the review finished and got good feedback from the editor and started making headway on my classes for the spring semester. I think I am now going to do nothing for a few days. LOL

3. Josh and I watched Everything Everwhere All at Once, and I can't recommend it highly enough. I have not watched many TV shows or movies since the pandemic, even ones I am interested in watching, so when I tell you that this is must-see, the praise is high. This movie really touched me emotionally. I spent the last third of it in tears. The acting is so good. The writing is so good. The message is so good. Life is so damn hard and scary and unfair and cruel, but there is hope. There is optimism. We can choose to be kind to each other.

4. My endocrinologist has upped my thyroid meds, so crossing my fingers that will make a difference in my energy levels.

5. The Victorian Popular Fiction Association's Third Sex Reading Group read Night Brother this month, and it was a very interesting read. I enjoyed the book when I was reading it, but certain aspects of the novel fall apart on close analysis. None of us in the reading group could quite decide what Garland is trying to say about gender/sexuality.

The Night BrotherThe Night Brother by Rosie Garland

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this. It's such an intriguing premise--that Edie and Gnome share one body and fluidly shift from male to female. Add in the Edwardian setting, and I'm hooked.

1. YAY!

3. Also yay, but lower case. :P I love this movie so much. It didn't go where I expected it to, and that made me very happy. Satisfied!

Yes! This is indeed good and helpful news, and as an openly meddling Canadian, I am also grateful for this victory!

One consequence of having an exhausting schedule (even for people in much better health than you are) is exhaustion, so I predict that the combination of Rx change and Dolce Far Niente will make you feel a lot better.

I actually did a double fist pump when I heard the news on my way downtown today. Yes, that involved taking both hands off the steering wheel, but it was worth it. *g*

Yay for grading being done and getting good feedback on your review!

I hope the new meds help. *gentle hugs*

1) Congratulations! I wish we had been able to do that here. Maybe next time.
2) Woot! It feels so good to be done, doesn't it? I'm nearly there, and I also plan to take a couple of days to nothing much, if I can manage that while also getting my Yuletide story done on time.
3) I loved it too! There was a lot I found universal about the journey of women in the first and second generation of immigration to America.
4) Good luck! I hope it helps.

Yes, you wouldn't really think scenes with hotdog fingers or mother-daughter rocks could be poignant and moving, but there it is. It's not the relationship I had with my mother, but it's a lot like the one I have with my grandmother, and like the one she had with my mother, too.

So happy about Warnock.

Also, the number of emails in my inbox is somehow half of what it was. ;-) I contributed twice, but.

I am in the midst of individual conferences with all of my seniors -- two classes worth, so almost 50 meetings. Grades are due in -- I'm not kidding -- on December 24th. *sigh* So that last week will be grading and, um, housework, as we have a guest coming either Christmas Eve or Christmas morning.

Michelle Yeoh is a goddess and especially thrives in strange movies.

Here's hoping about getting the thyroid meds right!

I hope the thyroid med adjustment helps! And well done on putting the semester to bed - that is the best feeling. I hope you'll have a chance to rest over the coming weeks ♥ We're done too, but it's been so hectic for the last couple of weeks it hasn't felt like break. I'm hoping to get some packages in the mail today and then it'll feel more like I have some free time. (We go back January 3, so time is precious!)
