More Yuletide recs

lunabee34I loved this year's "Live Free or Die Hard" entries so much that I had to go rent the movie and watch it again last night. After having done so, I love these fics even more because of all the little details they get right that I didn't remember from the first time I saw the movie.

Fandom: Live Free or Die Hard
This takes place entirely in Matt's head. We have no idea what exactly John feels for him, but Matt's feelings for John are so perfectly rendered and the fic ends on such a hopeful note. This is sweet, very very sweet.
Just that Simple Thing
Fandom: Live Free or Die Hard
This fic is just plain funny. I love Lucy as the yenta here. I love the frenetic, slightly ridiculous place that is the inside of Matt's head. I love how freaking hot this gets at the end--hot like a burning, burning fire. And also funny.
How Enos Finally Caught Daisy (or possibly the other way round)

Okay, guys, here's the thing. If this was the only fic produced by Yuletide--the lone single only fic--I would be throrougly pleased with the results. This is as fine as anything I've read in any fandom. It's written from John's POV and watching him struggle with his attraction to Matt, watching him finally realize that he can have what he wants--SO FREAKING HOT. This fic is sweet but it's definitely not cloying. It feels very, very real. This story makes me believe that badass John McClane wants computer geek Matt Farrell in the worst way. Go read, now.

Fandom: Lost Boys
I actually only very recently saw this movie for the first time and I loved it. This fic is really interesting--atmostpheric, despairing. I love that Michael cannot escape what the blood has done to him, that it continues to influence him long after that summer is over.
