OMG, y’all.

There is so much joy in my life. So much.

I have applied for four tenure track positions in English (one in OK and two in GA) (as we can see, none of these positions is in the Mathematics Dept) and I have people on the inside at both places and I feel incredibly excited about my prospects with all of them. I am super qualified for all these jobs and my vitae is excellent and man, the wheel is turning up, people. UP.

IT IS SNOWING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT IS STICKING!!!!!!!!!!!! It has only snowed once in my daughter’s life and she was wee and it was pissing me off because it snowed every year before she was born and my one regret about leaving here was her not seeing snow. She caught some flakes on her tongue before bedtime and in the a.m. it’s snowmen. And hot chocolate!

We watched the inaugural ep of Speed Grapher tonight and this chick said, “Don’t make me domestic violence you!” And I was all, “Hey! That’s my line!” Srsly. I say that all that time. Right before I smack Josh.

And now, Stargate Atlantis love. LOVE. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Yep. Love.

I adored the two episode “Kindred” arc; I won’t go into depth, but a couple highlights. TODDDDDDDDDDDDD! Oh, man. I hope we never lose him because he is awesome.

Michael is the best villain ever. My triumvirate of Stargate villains is Baal, Michael and Kolya. Love to hate them all.

That Ronon/Rodney moment? “Maybe I’ll pick you something up while we’re here?” LOL *loves*

Carson. OMG All of Rodney’s reactions, the way he instantly accepts this Carson as Carson even though he’s not the original, his offer to program the stasis pod with dreams—*wails*. And Ronon’s goodbye hug. Y’all, that shit slays a girl.

Now, on to “The Last Man.”

This? This is fanfic, the very best [livejournal.com profile] ana_grrl, [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza, [livejournal.com profile] synecdochic, [livejournal.com profile] executrix, [livejournal.com profile] lyrstzha kinda fanfic.

Yo, [livejournal.com profile] springwoof and Leah? Anything about this episode seem familiar? LOL Oh, man, I love “The Body Holographic” to death and seeing this canon incarnation of your idea (albeit spun in a different direction) is completely made of win.

I bawled pretty much this entire episode. By the time Sam was hugging Rodney, I was sobbing. How much do I love that she gets all her crew to safety and then bitchslaps those hiveships into oblivion? More than I can textually render, my friends. And Ronon and Todd buying it together with those little smiles on their faces! “Are we done?” Oh, kickass.

Rodney and Keller and THEY LOVE EACH OTHER. AND IT WORKS. IT IS SUCCESSFUL. AND HOT AND SWEET. And Rodney sacrifices his whole life to get Sheppard back, to get all his friends back—so that even if he and Jennifer never love each other that way, she still will live. Can y’all hear the sobfest?

LORNE IS THE HEAD OF THE SGC!!!!!!!!! Give this man a credit. He eats up the screen like nothing else, M. Even with his magical oldness he is still hot and awesome.

How much do we love that John calls Rodney a genius pretty much the second he steps through the gate?

*squeeeeeeeeee*

Yay! I'm so glad things are going well for you, ma dear. You deserve it!

As for the snow, please feel free to take ours. I'm done, thank you.

Big thanks, my Bradling.

For two glorious hours this morning Josh and Emma and I played in the snow. We made a ridiculous snowman that would hardly stick together because the snow was so feathery and powdery. It was awesome.

It's pretty much gone now, so we'll have a bit of yours.

LOL

*hugs*

Yay - another position! You know I'm kinda biased toward one. :) I'm hoping you get the best one for you, though. I'm off to work - I'm working a couple of hours today to make up for being sick the other day. Later!

Yay! For happy post!

But remember, it is not in the power of assholes with mortarboards to control whether you understand how wonderful you are, dong ma?

Wise indeed, Exec, and it is a lesson I am slowly learning. If nothing else, I think I will able to look back on this time and see that I've learned a lot about myself and my identity and my coping mechanisms and you guys have helped me with that.

:)

Josh and I plan to finish up HLOTs in the next couple days and send it back to you.

Oh, Timmy. What is he doing? That Emma chick is crazy. LOL These episodes have just been getting better and better and better. Every single time we watch, I'm wowed. Felton going home to the empty house with that driving guitar chord from "Hurt" overlayed was seriously gorgeous.

(Not you--Tim, of course).

'K then I will wrap up S4 and put it in the Media Mail on Monday, so you should have S4 when you're ready for it. 4 has the first xover episode with Law and Order--I would seriously suggest not bothering, the xovers are rubbish.

I looked at the titles for S4 and was going to warn you for seriously upsetting stuff, but well, that applies passim.

I can't wait! LOL

hee! I was yelling at the screen: "You got it wrong! It's John that's the hologram!"
other than that, they didn't do too badly with the idea...
(I wonder what happened to Old!Rodney, though, after he created the hologram? of course, the hologram didn't know and wouldn't be able to tell John... guess that's a job for Fanfic!)

I think they did really well with the idea too. They even got Rodney's makeup right. Most of the time when a character needs to be aged in the Gateverse, they end up looking ridiculous instead of old but they went with a lighter hand on him and it was great.

Fanfic that you should write, yes? Yes? :)

that's fantastic about the prospective positions!! And the snow. Did y'all manage to make a snowman this morning? We made one that is so pitiful. Seriously, it's like five inches tall. hee.

We did! Ems loved it, of course, even though it was tiny and sad. LOL The snow here was just so grainy and feathery. Not really packable. It wouldn't stick together enough to make a snowman.

Whee! *hugs tightly* I have so much joy for your joy! I'm so chuffed for you, hon, and I'll totally have my fingers crossed for those tenure track positions for you. That's really exciting!

And yeah, I had some pretty happy SGA moments these last eps, too. Especially on "The Last Man". Todd and Ronon blowing up together was strangely sweet and powerful. Hologram!Rodney worrying about Sheppard, and the two of them angsting together? Utterly adorable. And Sam was glorious! Oh, and when I saw Lorne was the head of the SGC, I had to pause the DVR; I swear I could hear the faint echo of Ana's squeeing all the way from here. Pure awesome! Also, I love John stepping through the gate and calling Rodney a genius, too.

And hey, did you notice the commercial for the SG-1 movie coming out on DVD this Tuesday? I'd forgotten it was coming up so soon. Woot!

Did I notice?! Did I notice?! Phil could hardly contain me. LOL We are so buying that the second it becomes available.

Thanks so much for the congrats! I am so excited and pleased and impatient to know what will happen.

Holo!Rodney was so awesome. He's just like old!Elizabeth; he gave up his whole life so that he could save the people he loves. OMG, *wails*

I was completely unspoiled for Kindred 1 and nearly had a heart attack at the shock reappearance! Only in sci-fi do you get the chance to sob over the demise of a fav character twice.

The arc was beautifully done and I'd just done with thinking they were pretty much the best eps of the season when along came 'The Last Man'. Sob, sob, sob again. Rodney spent 25 YEARS trying to find a way to get John back. Yeah, he wanted everyone else back too, yadayada, but JOHN!!

That John was the focus around which the continued existence of the human race existed was a brilliant conceit, if only for his ordinariness. Yes, he's a good-looking man who's struck the right role, but the producers/writers took it to the max, and very well. They've done the same with David. He's not the normal pin-up, but the eyes, the character... Oh, mama. *g*

You're very right about David. I can remember back before I was in SGA everybody was posting about McShep and how hot they were and I had seen a PIcture of Joe Flanigan somewhere and I was all, "Oh, yeah. Hot dude." And then I saw a picture of David Hewlett and I thought, "Really? Really? This dude?" But all it took was watching one episode to realize how awesome and attractive Rodney is. For me, he really was a case of me falling in love with the character first and then finding him physically attractive afterwards. But now, dear lord. *fans face*

*g* It is kinda funny. I should probably be panting over Jx2 or 3 or 4 or whatever, but I couldn't be less interested. Boring as all get-out.

David? He plays Rodney quite brilliantly. An intelligent, essentially nice man with no street cred, no smarts. Somehow, it works.
