llembas Rated PG This reads just like an episode from the series. The dialogue is witty and sparkling, and the characterizations are amazing. Simon is notably absent from the fic, but all the other voices are pegged. I especially enjoyed the interaction between Jayne and Book. It's no secret I'm a Jayne fan, and this fic really does him justice. There's also the same lovely mix of humor and pathos from the series. This is really a must read of Firefly gen fic. The pile of ornaments covered half the table already. Little paper guns in various makes and models all in red, ammunition rounds in shades of blue, and several large knives with serrated blades constructed out of thin brown paper. The only thing that looked harmless and relatively normal were the perfectly shaped silver orbs. Mal had no idea how River had made them, he'd never seen anything quite like it. "S-43 Axis grenades. They reflect the light," River said, simply. "She's right, they do," Jayne commented from the stove where he was piling a heaping mound of the Shepherd latest protein concoction onto his plate. "Can't even camo the gorram things. Paint slips right off. I tried once." "The molecular structure of the metal is a repellant," River explained.
"Festive," Mal said.

thenyxie Buffy/Angel rated PG I belong to the camp that believes that while B/A is gorgeous and passionate, the ship is doomed to fail. I don't think the two of them could ever make it work, but oh I love the trying. This is a very sensuous fic; sensory details abound. The author has given such tangibility to minute details, I can even feel the air around the characters in this piece. She dines on sushi and he chuckles at the way she wrinkles her nose at the wasabi when she gets too liberal a dose. The wine loosens her up and she keeps the glass full, laughing at herself and nearly toppling the table when she spills it in his lap. It's too casual, too close, and both of them forget themselves, lost in the ease of being together again. She hugs him goodbye and holds on tight, her face tucked into the curve of his neck. It's the most natural thing in the world when she turns her cheek toward his, mouths inching towards each other, seeking, meeting, tasting, and gentle questing explodes into white-hot passion, her hands on his skin, senses stinging from the smell of her, the feel of her body, the whimpers and moans that escape in tiny shudders captured between his lips and devoured. This really sets the bar for B/A fic. A must read.
crazydiamondsue, I know you're a seeekrit B/A shipper. You'll love this. Or maybe you'll cry and hate me, but read it!
