Has anyone else noticed the relative ease with which the verses of Stargate and Supernatural could coexist? Let’s say for a moment that the events of both series inhabit the same world; then the following is possible:

1. Demons are actually some form of Goa’uld in which the symbiote has learned to become incorporeal (through technology or some genetic mutation or whatnot). Think about it; most of Earth’s theology and mythology is actually based on aliens and their intervention anyway in the Stargate verse. SPN demons are very much like the Goa’uld; they parasitically inhabit a human body and then although the host remains, its consciousness is pushed to the backburner, allowing the demon to commit atrocities the host would never consider.

2. Vampires are actually the ten thousand year evolution of the Wraith. When the Ancients came through the Gate to the Milky Way, some intrepid scientist brought Wraith DNA or some piece of Wraith technology with her and voila, vampires.

3. The YED is interested in Sam because he has the ATA gene; so do all the other psychic children. We know from SGA that Ancients who were close to ascension developed powers like telekinesis and healing and mind-reading. Sounds a little like the psychic kids’ abilities, doesn’t it? Maybe when the YED feeds Sam his blood, he’s doing something to speed up his evolutionary process in order to allow those abilities to manifest. This would also explain why he’s not interested in Dean (he doesn’t have the gene) and why Mary seems to know him; she has the gene, too.

4. Now I can’t really explain ghosts in terms of Stargate, although you could do something with ascension or phasing or technology that traps people between states of existence. But I think it’s okay for ghosts to just be ghosts if aliens are just gonna be aliens.

5. How much fun would it be for Dean and Cameron to interact? Or Sam and Daniel? Or Dean and Sheppard? Or Ronon and Dean? Or Teyla and Sam? Or Papa Winchester and General Hammond? More fun than I can say here, I think.

Somebody needs to write this crossover. Please! If you know of a good SPN/Stargate Xover, let me know. I’ve only encountered one so far, an amazingly hot PWP where Rodney meets Dean, and I’d love to read something long and plotty.

Old Country by [livejournal.com profile] astolat; Sam/Dean; Adult
I asked you guys for recs to get me back in the supernatural frame of mind and this was the absolute perfect fic to break my summer hiatus. This crossover with HP is loads of fun--Dean's commentary on parcel by owl, the Winchester reputation in the wizarding world, Dean flirting with a unicorn. It's also incredibly clever--Sam's sorted to Slytherin and Dean into Hufflepuff (not the Gryffindor I was expecting)--and their outsider perspective on the wizarding world is really insightful. "Old Country" is also suspenseful and creepy at times and tugs on the old heartstrings. Like everything I've ever read by [livejournal.com profile] astolat, this is an amazing read.

Cross Country VI: So Your Coworker's a Vampire by [livejournal.com profile] knitmeastory; Gen; PG
This crossover with The Office made me grin so hard I thought my face would break. Remember when Dwight thought Jim was a vampire? Guess who he called to rid Dunder Mifflin of the infernal undead? There's even camera asides just like in the show! So very very fun.

Drawing Constellations by [livejournal.com profile] mijmeraar; J2 and various; Adult
One of my absolute favorite movies is Love Actually and this fic is loosely based on that film. While it doesn't follow the movie's plot exactly, this fic certainly inhabits its spirit--all the joy and bittersweet ache a gal could want. Seriously nice read.

SG-1

It's Gotten Me Thinking by Meredith Bronwen Mallory; General Hammond POV; Jack/Daniel; PG
I normally don't like first person fanfic very much and I wish this piece had been written from another POV. That being said, the theme of this fic is really interesting, especially since General Hammond is not depicted as a sexual person on the show. Here, he is propositioned by Master Bra'Tac; Hammond refuses the offer, but not for the reasons you might think. Lovely.

Generally Speaking by Wonderland; Hammond-centric gen; PG
This is another first person fic, but I think the POV works much better here. This is just a day in the life of the SGC; we get to see Hammond's internal monologue as he worries about these people for whom is responsible and as he negotiates all their different needs. This feels very real to me.

1969 Prime by Redbyrd; Gen; PG-13
In the series, SG-1 is sent back in time to 1969 and is able to return because General Hammond has given Sam a note with the dates and times of solar flares. How does he know to do this? It stands to reason that the first trip SG-1 makes back in time, Hammond has no idea what to do. This fic explores that first trip through time, when a young Lt. Hammond has no clue who these strangers are or how to help them or even if he should. Really, really clever fic.
