lunabee34: (die hard: john b/w by bingeling)
So December is apparently Small Fandoms Month and Die Hard (in any incarnation) has never been [livejournal.com profile] crack_van'ed. I don't have time to do it in December; we'll be traveling for most of the month with dubious internet access. But somebody so should! Here's the sign up post.

In other news, have some vids:

Pretty by Melissa; SPN; Sam/Ruby with hints of a jealous Dean
This is exquisitely edited, y'all. Just a beautiful thing to look at. The way the vid switches from color to black and white is very striking.

When You Wish by [livejournal.com profile] starrylizard; SPN
Wow. Take one old Disney standard, insert a spectacular amount of creepy and angst, and this is what you get. I think this vid is very much about the way that a person can never ever ever get what she wishes for when she deals with demons. Yes, Mary saves John's life but she dies and her children are living the kind of lives that she most feared. Yes, John saves Dean's life, but Dean carries around the guilt of his father being in hell and of the responsibility that John put on his shoulders in terms of offing Sam. Yes, Dean saves Sam's life, but he has to go to hell as a consequence and we all know how that turned out for him. These deals are fraught, twisty little things. And this vid captures that brilliantly. I also love that in the closing image of Dean in Hell, the shape of his body mimics that of a five point star.

Never Say Goodbye by LSketch42; SPN; Sam and Dean
I am continuously amazed by the way that talented vidders can create a new narrative line just by remixing existing footage. This is a brilliant little AU that suggests that after Dean caught Sam exorcising demons with his brains, he did leave like he threatened to do in the episode. Really, really nicely done.

Time is Running Out by Caccasandra; SPN, Sam/Ruby
I think I've linked you to the high quality version, but if not, click the link because HOLY CRAP the pretty! This is just gorgeous. The best vid I've watched in a really long time. And also the first in which I've noticed the insertion of the artist of the song into the vid; I really, really like it. It makes the vid feel as if the artist is actually commenting directly on what we're seeing, like he's complicit in a way. Pretty cool.
