Mad Men and student gem
Jan. 28th, 2011 09:57 pmWe're a little more than halfway through the first season. I think the show is brilliantly cast, beautifully acted, an interesting examination of and commentary on the time period. I think the costumes are utterly gorgeous, and I know the prop master must be having a hell of a time. I laugh at least ten times every episode; the show has a great sense of humor. And every time I look at Christina Hendricks I feel a very special kind of happiness in my nether regions.
And yet, I think almost every character on this show is completely reprehensible and horrible, and I kind of hate them down to my very toes. For example, Don Draper is a horrible, horrible man. Watching the gender relations play out on this show is so uncomfortable for me. Do you guys ever feel this way? Do you ever believe that a show is really well-written and plotted while feeling icky the whole time you watch it?
Also, just in case y'all were wondering, every Sunday at Mass what happens up on the altar when the bread turns into the Body of Jesus and the wine turns into His Blood? That's called transmasturbation. TRUFAX!
