Really, ageist douchebags?
Feb. 6th, 2012 11:37 pmI thought Madonna's Superbowl halftime show was pretty much the epitome of awesome. She was beautiful and fit and had multiple costume changes and was dancing up a storm and showcased many of the songs I love. I can't tell you how many times people in the room commented on her beauty and how happy she looked and how fantastic her dancing was.
The woman is 53 years old, old enough to be my mother, and she has a better body and can dance better than I will ever even dream of accomplishing in my lifetime.
Imagine my surprise when NPR tells me Twitter was all ablaze last night with hatefulness about how old she looked. Really? I would give my eyeteeth to look half as good as she does (And what are eyeteeth anyways? Why are they so precious to us?).
I'm sorry Madonna isn't 23 anymore. I'm sorry she's hotter (and hells yes she is hotter to me) more than 30 years after "Holiday." I'm sorry she didn't just dissolve into nothingness once she hit 40 like the media seems to think most women should do. Let's all fawn over Harrison Ford and Sean Connery and Clint Eastwood while Lorraine is in the corner gagging.
