Y'all know what I hate?
Nov. 23rd, 2014 12:03 pmTime travel stories where the character thrust back in time does not actively try to stop awful events from happening. I hate that. Hate it.
I'm okay if they try and fail, if the moral of the story is that some events cannot be prevented, that they're fated to happen and whatnot.
But Hermione Granger going back in time and doing absolutely nothing to stop James and Lily Potter from dying *after* becoming their best friend for three years and Lily's maid of honor and Harry's godmother? Icky, icky, no no.
Preservation of the timeline, my ass. Hermione still wants to find her way back to the future in this story I'm probably going to stop reading now. How could she ever look Harry in the eyes and say, "Oh, yeah. I just let your folks die. No harm, no foul, right?"
Bleck, bleck, bleck.
